After working hard at school on the Colorado Student Assesment Program, it was time for a family vacation. We decided on Orlando, and through our timeshare we got a resort in Kissimee. I booked our tickets online and had us going to Jacksonville on American because it was much cheaper. (Only $200.00 per person!) With this great deal comes a price, the flight from DEN left early, and it was followed by a three and a half hour layover in DFW. I booked our trip from March 27th-April 1st, little did we know, that we would not be coming home on the 1st after all.

Arr: 10:00am (app)
Equip S80 (couldnt tell the reg.)
Seat: 9A
Our plane parked at the gate.

The flight was uneventful. Absolute smooth sailing the whole way in to DFW. This was a beautiful morning and the sun reflected off of the snow capped peaks of the Colorado Rockies. When we landed in DFW it was raining, and it was colder than I would expect it to be. Once we were there, we hung out around DFW, I got a smoothie and listened to my ATC radio most of the time.
By the way--If you think any of these pics are Jetphotos.net database worthy, please tell me!

Fun in Orlando!!
We had fun despite how unbelievably crowded it was down there! Traffic everywhere was horrible. We wanted to go to a theme park, either Disney World or Universal. My dad decided we should go to Epcot, he said it would be educational.(Great just what i wanted on vacation) We decided to go, tickets were $60 or so per person, and you had to stay at Epcot you couldnt go to any other disney parks without 40 or so more dollars. Oh well it was still fun. We waited in line for Test Track. We waited three hours for a three minute ride. While we waited in line, we got a fast pass ticket for Mission: Space. Before it was our ride time, we went around to the different country displays trying to decide where to eat. We chose mexican food and although expensive, it was very good. This actually may have been a stupid idea, because after we ate, we headed over to Mission: Space, a motion simulator. In line for the ride, it kept saying Warning: May cause motion sickness. On the ride, there was even motion sickness bags. Luckily, no one in my family needed to use it, so the ride was that much more enjoyable.
We went to Cocoa beach, it was very crowded and the water was cold at first but it was very nice once you got used to it. We hung out at our hotel alot, we fed bread to these odd looking duck like creatures.

I saw an ad in a cupon book dealy for the Fantasy of Flight museum. I begged my dad to take me, so he did. It was awesome, they had real aircraft used in World War II, it was amazing, it was so realistic! Heres a picture of the cockpit (the pilots are fake
)

Beautiful old bird on display outside, man it was hot in that thing! It was like stepping into a time machine.

The next day it was time to go, we left the hotel at noon and our flight left at five. We figured we would have enough time to get to Jacksonville, but guess who was back.....TRAFFIC! The whole way. Stop and go. The usual three hour drive, now took six. Needless to say, we missed the flight. We tried all the airlines for another flight out United, US Airways, Airtran and more they all had a simple response...No either followed by a sorry or a try over at United. We got put on the 6am flight on American the next morning. We went over to the Holiday Inn and spent the night. We woke up at about 3:30 to make sure we definatley did not miss this flight. We did make this flight, and got seats on what was supposed to be a full flight.

It was fairly full so there was no room to move.
Flight was a bit bumpy on takeoff, otherwise nothing went wrong.
Only an hour or so in DFW this time.
United 733 taking off before us

This flight was amazing! Smooth the whole way (except on approach to DEN but thats to be expected). The service was great, the flight crew was very nice and funny. Once we landed in DEN I snapped my last few pics of the trip.

My final thoughts about American Airlines and the MD80.
I was impressed that American treated us so good, even though they are a legacy carrier. They took care of us when we missed our flight and made sure we got home safe. The employees seem to love what they do which is good. The MD80 is a wonderful airplane one of my favorites now that i have flown on one. I wish they were newer, so that I could experience them more. They get a bad rep these days, someone on this forum complained about the lack of IFE, big deal! I think we are forgetting what flying is all about. Flying should be about the flight! Not what you watched on the way. The MD80 is unique, and I am so happy I got to experience it. I hope to be able to fly on it for years to come! They dont make them like that anymore!
