Where did you get that USD 4,000 quote?
I went to singaporeair.dk and cheked on the dates 15. sep and return 22. sep...

28072 DKR is currently 4734 USD However, I called their office in Copenhagen, and they gave me a price for the same dates- 6772 DKR. I have no idea exactly what's going on

Definitely! And if the price is still around that level when I have money enough to book, it's definitely going to be SQ

They have a special offer at the travel agent I usually book at. Around 6200 DKR. But I'd still pay the extra money to go on SQ, that's for sure!

That's why SK would be my second choice I havent flown SK on longhaul either, so it could definitely be interesting!
Thanks for all the info! It's great to get other people's inputs on this!

    -Thanks

      Hi Janni,

Actually I know what's going on.

SQ's online booking is sometimes tricky and one can get at some moment these kind of "full unrestricted fares", which are the most expensive ones even though there are much cheaper fares available. The question is in every service class (First, Business and Economy) there are several booking classes (fares) especially in Economy. The differences between fares have to do with their conditions. The cheapest ones are the ones with more restritions, e.g., minimum stay, maximum stay, no rerouting, cancellation fees or no refunds, no frequent flyer mileage accrual.

An Economy class "full unrestricted fare" can be more expensive than the cheapest Business class fare because one can book, cancel and rebook a trip within up to one year as many times as one want without any costs depending on the specific airline.

SQ's website can either show only a staggering expensive "full unrestricted fare", all fares available or even a sweet price, which their call centre or a travel agent cannot see as being available. This is at least my experience.

As you can expect, I simply disregard these "full unrestricted fares" as I usually travel on holiday and pay the fares from my own pocket.

I usually get the best quotes from travel agents for full-service airlines but like I said sometimes SQ's website has some Internet-only sweet deals that nobody else knows about.

      Take care.
