All good things must come to an end. This trip was certainly no exception. I had one of the BEST times I have ever had in DC and Baltimore area. We went to Naval Academy, and Great Falls, MD. Joe told me I was only 15 min from his house, pretty cool, shoulda known, heard his mom was..hmmh
. Ya so anyway.... DCA was great. I got to go to the white house, and walk the streets and I got stopped by the police for taking a picture of the US Capital haha. Almost got arrested for illegally parking in front of starbucks. The starbucks, holy crap. I have never seen so many starbucks in my LIFE! Anyway.....
TO NOTE: I was NOT on Flight 1248 that went off the runway in December and killed the 6 yr old Boy. However I did fly Flight 1248 BWI-MDW earlier, just a month or so ago. But When it happened it had just been 3 weeks when I got home from Flight 1248 before this happened. Of coruse this flight I was on landed safely and without any incident unlike the one in December. While It was awhile before it happened, it still kind of creeped me out that I had JUST flown flight 1248 three weeks before this happened. Flight 1248 obviously is no longer in effect as it is now Flight 1885.

Flight 1248
SWA BWI-MDW
N759GS
I arrived into the airport, and was talking to tommy on the phone about something worthless. About BWI I think. So I printed my boarding passes, and had to hang up on him so I could go through security. Went through, and I was cleared. I went back to A concourse and walked around since I could not see it at night when I flew in. It was actually pretty boring, kind of expected for a sunday afternoon. It was actually pretty boring. I went back upstairs and went into the B concourse. Looked out the window to see the A gates.

Walked through the B concourse and went to B-19 where my flight would be leaving from. I sat down and txtd with Tommy. Watched planes come and go. It was a bit boring....couldnt see much from where I was sitting. Then people were suddenly lining up for the flight, and I saw the plane had already arrived at the gate! I was like how the hell did that get to the gate, I never saw it pull up. I couldn't see the reg but thankfully paul let me know. Had Brown Winglets, first time I was in a brown winglet plane. I got in line A to get ready to board. We had a HUGE line of pre-boards. I seriously had to wonder if we would have any open seats left. But the guy said only 117 booked on this flight. They called for A boarding and then got on board. Went to my seat, and sat down. Looked out the window and grabbed a pic of the winglet.

One of the main F/A, who's name was Herb. I wonder how often he got jokes about it or not...So everyone else finished boarding. We settled in our seats and the F/A started to do safety briefings as we backed out.

Once we backed out, we turned left to head for the Runway. We waited for a WN 733 to take off. Then we finally turned onto the runway, and waited a couple of seconds. The 737 revved the engine up and we shot down the runway, and after about 40 seconds, we took off.

Cruising flight soon came and the F/A started the drink service. They passed out the snack packs and we got our soda. I of course ordered Coke. I gazed out the window and saw the sun was about to start setting.

It looked beautiful and very nice to see. I pulled out my book and kept on reading and listened to some music too. I finished my snack bag and coke, and threw it away when the trash person came by. I went back to reading my book again. It was a very interesting read. Flight went along just fine. It wasn’t anything else worth extra to write about.
Soon we started to descend, it was very cloudy down there. We got down, closer and closer until we started skimming the clouds. I like doing that, skimming along because it really shows how fast we are cruising along, just watching the clouds zip by extremely fast. It also gets really turbulent too, so the wings shake quite a bit.

There we are, just skimming along the cloud tops.
Then we go under the clouds, it gets really shaky and then it gets really dark. You could hardly even see the winglet. Finally we popped out fo the clouds and I saw lake michigan and looked behind me was a BEAUTIFUL scene of clouds, water and the moon.

He put down some flaps, and we started to slow down quite a bit. Some clouds in sight, but for the most part, beautiful skies. It was extremely windy, I mean very very windy. Wings were rocking back and forth, and we woould drop down, then go back up. Winglets would shake violently. I was having fun! lol. Then the sears tower appeared and I heard the landing gear drop, and the rest of the flaps let loose. We were now on final! Pretty soon we landed on 31C.

Sadly 1248 in December did not have a safe landing
. When we landed on 31C we landed right at the edge of the runway and then a bit later the reverse kicked in. We took the whole runway to slow down, nearly.
With that in mind, we taxied to the gate, and arrived on time. Everyone got off, and I walked around a bit as I had 1 hr layover there. I got on the phone and talked to Tommy for a little bit, the conversation was hilarious because he was spostting at LAX, and everytime a plane came in for lanidng he'd say "747" and it was my cue to shut up, he'd put the phone down, and take a picture of the plane coming in, and then id hear him go SWEET or DAMN or AWESOME. Then we started talking about Southwest and the flight and then all of a sudden "HOLY SHIT 747, COMING IN!" so i shut up...lol.
Finally, we hung up and I walked to the gate where my MDW-STL flight was leaving from. I hung around and waited. A gorgeous F/A for SWA came up to the gate and aske dif it was leaving on time and if she had a seat, I overheard she was the 4th F/A. From which I understood from Paul. (Thanks Paul, this helped me a lot! haha) I came up to her and introduced myself and we started chatting quite a bit. About SWA and stuff, her name is Jessica. She told me she was the 4th F/A and I said yes I know what that is and I explained it to her. she had her mouth open going omg how did you know that? (thanks Paul
). I said I know people who work for SWA and i have a lot of friends who work for them. Told ehr I was a huge SWA fan and such. We discussed the W.A and other things. She was really really impresed by how much I knew about SWA. she said "ok ur lying wheres ur badge or ID u have to be working for SWA" I said nah haha. I am just a big fan. Then I said something about SWA from the book NUTS! and she went you actually read that book?I said front to back 3 times at least. she was very shocked haha. Then there weas an announcement our flight was delayed for 20 minutes. More groans rang thruought the seating area at the gate. The F.A and I stood in line A for awhile and chatted some more. She told me she was MDW based, and asked where I was from. I said you probably have never heard of it but I live Carbondal,e Illinois, just 6 hrs south of chicago and 2 hour southeats of st. louis. she had a surprise look on her face and said omg ur kidding, thats where SIU is right? I said yes why she said i live outside of STL. My turn to have a surprised look on my face
. I sai dno kidding so we chatted about STL and the airport and the general areas and such. Soon 20 minutes passed by and N303SW pulled up to the gate. Both her and I groaned at the same time, and i looked at her said u hate the -300 dont you? she said ya i prefer the -700 and long hauls. I said sweet. Everyone else started to line up and she asked if I had flonw any special liveries she said only shamu and nex mexico one I said not me, but i flew on kitty hawk, on N448WN. She said she really wanted to fly on SLAM DUNK ONE. I said you will soon im sure, i asked if she ever saw it in person? I she said nope only pictures and she said it was her favorite special livery. I told her I hadnt seen Slam DUnk One either , just pictures, she said maybe we will see it soon. i said hopefully. Then jessica and I traded emails and we keep in touch occasionally but not as much as we did before. They announced for boarding and on we got to N303SW.
SWA Flight 2632
MDW-STL
Nov 13TH.
I got on board, talked to jessica some more. I sat down and waited for everyone else to finish boarding. Everyone finished up boarding and the F/A came around and collected drink orders. Jessica came around and handed out the peanut bags and she chatted to me a bit more while we were taxing. I looked out the window and heard a huge roar, and saw SLAM DUNK ONE passing by us to the gate!!
It looked STUNNING in person, omg! Just WOW!! We taxied to a runway. Think it was 31C again. He revved up the engines and we shot down the runway and turned left for STL. Drinks came around and I got my coke. as usual
lol. Flight went by rather quickly, we were 40 minutes late leaving the gate so he was booking trying to get to STL. Soon in no time I saw the arch appear, and the wheels dropped and flaps came down. F/A came around the cabin and quickly cleaned up. Engines slowed down quite a bit. Then i felt us dropping. Then he revved the engines up and I got pushed back into my seat again. Soon R 30R came up and we landed right on the runway. we slowed down tremednously and we turned and taxied to the gate. I got off and waited for Jessica to get off. We chatted a bit more and we enjoyed eahc others comapny quite well
. I walked her to the emplyee parking area, hugged and said good bye and she told em to email her as son as I got home. I said I will and went to the metro link and wait for the train to take me back to my car. then I met another girl, named heather..who was an SIU student......
Hope you enjoyed the the trip report!
