  • Swa Flight 1762 Stl-fll

    Hello....

Once Again, Alex Trude had decided to go on another flying trip. This time, he was staying there for awhile . My grandma asked if I wanted to fly to FLL with her and I of course said yes. So i went online and searched around. I happened to have my DING program from SWA open and a DING came through for FLL flights. Southwest.com was showing 178 r/t. DING had it on sale for 148 dollars r/t SOLD! I booked it for myself and my grandma. So now we just wait till Feb 9th rolled around.

    Feb 9th
    SWA FLIGHT 1762 STL-FLL
    Gate E-16

I picked my grandma up and drove to the metrolink station. We got off the train and walked to the SWA Doors. We walked in and I printed out our boarding passes. She had to check her bag however. So i walked her over to the counter and helped her check in. They had Valentine Decorations all over the counter. We walked over to the security area. I unloaded our stuff and we all went through, clear as a bell.

I walked by some counters and saw SWA advertising the DAL flights.

We went to gate E-16 and waited for awhile, I decided to walk around a bit. Was not much to see though.

Champion Air 727 at the gate. Behind was C concourse, dead as usual

    Dead Concourse!

After awhile around 4pm I walked back to E-16. Tommy tracked my flight which was coming in from LAX. He said it was a 737-700 as I figured. Then at 4:10pm a plane landed. It was California one! I was like awesome wonder which gate its going to. It pulled up to our gate! I was thinking, ok wait....our flight is a 737-700, yet this is a -300! So i immediatly got in line with my grandma and said "i think this is our flight". Then Tommy texted me to say the flight was coming in for landing. I said "wait a damn minute, who's flight is this?!" immediatly over the speaker "Flight 357 to BWI is now boarding at gate E-16." oops I yelled at my grandma to get out of the line hahaha Finally our real flight landed and it taxied to our gate but had to wait for California One to leave the gate.

Finally, all the people for BWI was on board and they slowly backed out to allow our plane to come into the gate.

Our plane pulled in, and quite a few people got off.

I had asked the agent how the flight load was. She said it was booked 179/137, 42 seats overbooked.

I said what was the compensation?! She asked my reservation and she said you and your grandmother would receive 174 dollars back, and you would get a voucher and you would leave STL 45 minuts later, connect via MCO and arrive into FLL at 10:00pm(versus our regular scheduled at 8:30pm) She asked me if I wanted to volunteer myself. I said please hold. I went back, confered with my grandma, and thought damn, we only paid 148 r/t this would be a free flight, refund back and some more money! Grandma said.NO She said she did not want to change planes, nor inconvenient my uncle whom was picking us up. ok...1--IM WITH HER, I KNOW HOW TO CONNECT, 2..my uncle lives 4 MILES FROM FLL, it would NOT trouble him. 3-IM TALKING COMPLETE MONEY BACK, REFUND AND ALL! ugh, she still said No. God Dang it! Oh well.

    Our plane pulled up, N734SA.

We all lined up to board and we all got on, full flight and all. We sat in 17D and F, me in the middle because my grandma had not flown in awhile and i would be flying some more within the month. The F/A did the safety stuff, including the new thing-LIFEVEST! They were a HILARIOUS crew, funny as hell. Made jokes about the mask and oxygen, and food and seats, I was belly laughing, seriously, such a great crew. One F/A said "put mask over yer big ole mouth, if you've got kids, put them on yourself, you know who's more important!!" hahahaha We taxied to runway 12L. We took off and turned left slightly for FLL Airport. Leaving the gate at 5:15pm and the runway at 5:20pm.

    sun slowly sets down.

The F/A came by and took drink orders, i requested a can of coke and my grandmother a gin tonic. Oh boy gonna have to deal with her later . We got our drinks and a small snack bag thing. The crew was VERY attentive, always constantly walking up and down the iasle to make sure we had everything. We had anew safety cards too which i stole of course. we had a 2 female and one male F/A for the crew.

Flight continued to be great, we had an AMAZING SUNSET!

Darkness finally rolled through the skies, and i kind of dozed off, we still had another hour to go. So i put on my ipod and just laid there for the rest of the flight. Soon the announcement came to buckle up and we would be starting approach to FLL soon. So i cleaned up the area, the crew came around to collect trash one final time.

I looked out the window and saw florida passing under us. Finally we turned left over tampa. We flew across the state, overflew FLL and went out into the ocean. The engines went very quiet and all i could hear was the rumble of the engine and the flaps starting to come out. We banked hard right and dropped the landing gears. The rest of the flaps came back out, and i saw ships down below. We glided over Dania Beach into FLL on R 27R. We slowed down pretty quickly. Got off the runway, turned left and headed for Terminal One, gate B-5. We pulled up. Everyone got off. The flight would go to TPA as another Flight Number. We went to meet my uncle and grabbed my grandma's bag. It was an amazing flight by SWA and I enjoyed it! Great job once again Southwest!

Moral of this story: never fly with your grandma again.

                Cheers.
