  • FRA-PHL June 2001 (short)

If I remember correctly, the date was June 15, 2001. We were about to PCS from Heidelberg, Germany to Fort Drum, NY. I woke up early that morning, since we had to rent a van to take the dogs to the airport. The weather was beautiful, I couldn't have asked for better weather. The drive from PHV to FRA was about an hour, and it was a scenic one. The autobahn went past countless mountains and castles, and we cruised towards the airport at about 90 MPH.

    CHECK-IN

The check-in line was huge. We had two dogs to take with us, and that didn't help us at all. Lufthansa made us pay to bring the dogs. While we were at the check-in counter, I grabbed the Lufthansa 2001 summer timetable (which I still have today) We found out our gate number and headed over there. At the gate next to us was a LH 744 heading to Tokyo. We were onboard a Lufthansa A340, scheduled departure time- 1315

    THE FLIGHT

We boarded early, since we were in the back of the plane (Seat 44 A, I believe) The taxi to the runway was uneventful, and soon we started out take off roll. As we were getting airborne I could see our A340s reflection in the glass of the airport terminal. Soon we were airborne, and we started climbing to our cruising altitude for our long flight across the atlantic. Our inflight movie (if I remember right) was "The Wedding Planner." A few hours into the flight there was an inflight exercise program, which I ignored, since I had already wlaked around the plane a few times and was not worried about blood clots. I don't remember sleeping at all on that flight...sorry if this is brief, but this flight was a couple of years ago...Landing in PHL was also a typical, normal landing.

I'll try and upload some pics later on tonight or Wednesday.
