Sounds like you know the place. I liked Guam and kind of miss it.
Well I was in the squadron that absorbed VAP-61 and VW-1. The squadron was VQ-1, we had the EC-121Ms from VW-1 that were convered from Weather to Electronic Warfare, and the RA-3Bs and the TA-3B from VAP-61. We also had the EA-3Bs and EC-121s originally in VQ-1. I started out on the Connie then switched to EA-3Bs when the Connies were being retired.

Was there from February 73 to November 75

No, but I had guard duty a few times over a flight of Douglas A-1 Skyraiders. They were they only active heavy recip that I can think of from the other era that was still active. The Warthog pretty much took over it's job.

Thanks for the heads up! I think i was way off track there.
Did you ever train in a "WAR" piston engined aircraft? Viet pilots here trained on Mustangs before training on the Meteor for example...(Some anyway).

The T- Cat is the very small trainer based on the Yankee (AA-1series), but with more "civil" and slower wing and is 2 place.

Tiger is same airframe as the Cheetah, AA-5 and are 4 place.

They pretty much look the same and at a fast glance, wouldn't stand out. These are nice tidy civil aircraft like the Piper and such. The first Yankee did have a reputation for biting if stalled. These were made by American and Grumman.

    - Hey Maniac! Whats the difference beyween a T-cat and a Tiger (cat)? Has to be one of THE most sexy and dangerous piston engine aircraft yet created. Was mostly a night flyer wasn't it?
