  • Better/Best Premium cabins on narrow body aircraft?

    Hi All,

So, apologies in advance if this is placed in the wrong forum (Dear Lovely Mod, please remove/move if necessary, thank you!), but I am thought of no more accurate forum of connoisseurs than this fit.

Which carrier has, or had, the best business class or premium class product on a narrow body aircraft?

Who's product wowwed you, or brought to mind 'innovative', 'fantastic' or 'chic'?

In my mind (save for the ME3, B6's mint cabins, and AA's A321T), I find it hard to see modern examples of great premium cabins on narrow bodies. Yes, everyone has a few seats up front. Some have a business class. Why are lie flat seats not more common place? Was it always about costs?
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.

The only true business narrow body operation I've seen is BA's all business A318 London City - New York operation. 32 lie flat seats and the best bit is a quick refuel at Shannon and clear US customs and immigration while it's being refuelled to avoid the madhouse that is JFK's immigration hall.

G-EUNA. Airbus A318-112. JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!

Hm. Three old men in 1 thread.

This is not forcingly my thread, as narrow body is defined by "single aisle". Mr Wanne Eickel might want to hit me now, but, if we talk about seat pitch in smaller jets, there are one or two recommendations.
      a) the historic AC CRJs, especially the AC-CR7 (now transferred to QK). Business pitch was 37, and even eco pitch was 34. And, let me say one word before everyone has a suspicion, how on earth could he know that? I am reading a lot, especially in doubt, before I write.
It seems like our Canadian friends have similar problems... the CRJs are simply to small for the mother company..
And when once transferred, the seating might be altered...
      b) A318 is a good proposal. AF-A318, with a seat pitch of 32? AF specialists might say a word.

My hobbies? Well, all aircraft that can be seen on my home airport. + My avatar and all friends of my avatar...

PS: My avatar... We don't wanna mention it, but there is a difference between a C seat and a C seat. You can book one of more than 50 C seats in a LH-B744, and you can expect a little bit more than a 37 seat pitch... It clearly depends on your destination...

In times of the www it is a public secret where we are...

Sadly I've only seen the aircraft. I haven't experienced the service.

I have however experienced Premium Economy on BA, Virgin Atlantic, Thomson Airways and Cathay Pacific.
BA was the worst with the only difference to economy being extra legroom. Other than that the seats were standard economy with no extra recline, economy food and drink service and rather tired fixtures and fittings.
The other three were much better with Cathay Pacific taking the lead for comfort, 30 degree recline and inflight service
