Hey guys. I'm gonna go ahead and put my MCO-CLT-CHO trip in a nutshell for you. Hope it entertains you for the next 4 minutes...
I left the riddle dorms at 7:45am with my suitemate. He drove me across Daytona Beach to the DOTS Bus station. I caught the Orlando Interntional Airport Van at 8:30 and after a ride with a bunch of old ladies who smelled like "grandma" we got to MCO!
Check in was quick and the security line was very swift. I decided to remove my shoes any ways.. even though they didnt ask.. i just wanted to make sure nothing went wrong. Instead of going straight to the gate... I took the tram over to teh CO, NWA, and UA terminal. I walked around it.. going down all three terminals. I saw a lot of firsts for me in MCO that day. I saw my first New Northwest colors.. my first 753 (NWA), my first Song Jet, My first CO 753, and the Delta Connection ERJ. Well.. walking around got boring.. so I flipped out my scanner and listened to ATC as I walked back the tram and on to the USAir Gate #58.
after a lengthy wait at the gate.. the 762 finally arrived from Charlotte.
here is a pic of her:

Man.. that piece of metal is a Butte!
The engines were chromed out like a Pimps car! Damn! Well.. when we boarded.. I went back to the far galley and talked with the flight attendents (man and woman). We chit chatted for a good while.. and when i was going back to my seat, i asked the lady flight attendent if I could see the pilots when we arrived in CLT (Thanks to you guys on jp.net who got me pumped to ask!) I was getting situated in my seat.. and the FA came back! She said" the pilots will see you now!" "Cool!" I got up and started walking up the aisle.. i was way in the back. The FA said... hey son.. why dont you grab your bags! "Why?" "Would you like to sit in First Class!?" "Holy Crap! I couldnt believe it! Not waisting a beat, i grabbed my bags and headed up to FC!
I went in to the cockpit and struck up a converstation with the pilots. two very nice chaps. Apparently the APU was runnin a lil slow so i got to stay up there for 20 minutes! I went back to my seat and we taxiied out and took off! Man.. the 762 can climb.. the plane only had 93 Pax on board!
Enroute I saw a variety of places: Daytona Beach, JAX, Parris Island, Edisto Beach, Myrtle Beach and then Charlotte. We cruised at a whooping 41,000 feet! DAMN! That puts me in the FL400 club!
I listened to music on the laptop and drank my sprite as we zoomed north. We landed in CLT and it took forever to deplane. Apparently, the jet way was stuck and was 6 inches below the cabin floor! We sat there for 15 minutes no joke.. waiting.. finally they decided to just let us off and warn the pax of the 6 inch drop. When i deplaned.. i checked the gate to see where the plane wa headed to next. Wanna guess? Turns out in 3 hours.. the plane was headed for FRA! yeah.. across the pond to germany! How cool is that!?
Well.. walked through Concouse A, B, C, and finally made my way back towards D to Concourse E. After a long delay we boarded the Dash-8. After we boarded... the gate agent came on and said: "we need one pax to give up their seat." Not being an idiot like everyone else.. i raised my hand and scored a ticket valued over 1000 dollars. Free to Anywhere in the Contenintal US in USAir and USAir Express. I got off the plane.. and USAir decided to make sure I was happy that they were giving me a free ticket that they also gave me a free dinner at chilis! They are nice people!
Good ole Pete, NWAirlinkCRJ@ERI was waiting for me in CHO.. so, doing the right thing.. i used the payphone and told him i would be another 3 hours. He didnt mind.. well.. pete can tell you about that. Well... got my dinner at Chili's and listened to some badass piano while I ate my dindin in CLT. I went back to the gate and boarded next DAsh8 to CHO.
Sorry... didnt catch the Reg of the Dash...
On board... USAir sat me next to a hot chick and teh FA was pretty hot to.. only 19 years old! How lucky can a "girl-deprived" Riddle Student get!?
the flight was smooth and i talked to the FA and the chick next to me a lot. the FA was very young. she was joking about how if maybe there was Turbulence.. her face might "fall into the lap" of the man sitting infront of her (she is sitting backwards) It was an awesome flight.
Landing in CHO... I got to see pete for the first time! It was weird at first... seeing someone who talked just like pete on the phone! Except this was the real dude! Awesome! We got my bags and went to his car. He gave me a Cherry Flavored water and we drove to LYH....
Hope you enjoyed the report... I will make up the return one soon...
Any questions? Any comments? Heck ask... its another post for you and who knows... you might learn something new!
