  • LIT-PHX-LAS and then LAS-LIT on SW

This is my first trip report so don't be too hard on me.

(Sorry for any gramatical errors, I'm really tired while I'm typing this)

I hadn't flown Southwest for about 8 years. Their new boarding thing did NOT work. Supposedly they have boarding groups that are labels A, B, and C. 20 minutes before boarding was suppose to begin, ALL of the passengers got up and went and stood in line. I was thinking, wait...they have boarding groups. But that didn't matter. When they called A, the people in the A group had to push past all of the passengers in the B and C groups. And the people in B had to move past the people in C. It was really disorganized. I guess SW can't make passengers sit down, but they need to stress more that everybody does NOT need to get up at once!

    Southwest Flight 1939
737 (Don't know what type, it was in the old paint scheme but had new interior seats)
    6:00p-8:00p (Time change)

I really wasn't looking forward to this flight, I don't really know why, maybe because SW is the "no frills airline." Anyway, the flight turned out to be not so bad. We departed about 30 minutes late because the plane we were getting on was delayed because of a mechanical problem. The flight was about 90% full. After reaching our flying level, the flight attendents passed out drinks and peanuts. What really suprised me was that after about an hour, they passed out these snack boxes that had Oreo's, Jell-o snacks, Ritz crackers, and had more peanuts. I was not expecting this. You wouldn't get that on a major airline. The flight took about 2 and 1/2 hours, so that snack was appreciated. We arrived in Phoenix about 20-25 minutes late because of our late departure. I was nervous because I only had 1 hour to connect in PHX and didn't know my way around the airport because I had never been there. But that late arrival turned out not to be a problem.

    Southwest Flight 2761
737 (Don't know the type, the plane had the old paint scheme and the old brown interior)
    9:00p-9:00p (Time change)

The flight was delayed about 45 minutes because the pilots were late getting there. A good thing was that the flight was only about 40% full, so I had a whole row to myself. There was drink service and peanuts passed out for this short flight. We arrived 45 minutes late because of the departure delay.

    LAS-LIT
    Southwest Flight 2502
737-700 (This plane had the special Nevada paint scheme "Nevada One")
    [photoid=125161]
    12:00p-5:00p (Time change)

When I arrived at the airport I wasn't expecting to get a plane in the new livery because I hadn't so far. But when the special Nevada livery pulled up, it was okay. We backed out on time but runway traffic kept us waiting for about 30 minutes. The flight was about 90% full. We got drinks and snack mix after about 25 minutes. We didn't get any peanuts . Oh well. It wasn't that big of a deal, but I do like their peanuts. The flight attendant was great because she came around asking if we wanted more drinks about 4 times during the 2 hour and 15 minute flight. The plane arrived about 20 minutes early, making up for the delay on the runway.

    Overall-
I was really impressed with Southwest. I wasn't expecting much of anything in the way of food so that snack box and snack mix was welcome. Their flight attendants were nice and seemed to be enjoying their job, a good thing because flying these days can be stressful. The only thing wrong was the delays. All of my flights were delayed. I know that they all weren't the fault of SW but that still left a bad impression.

Good report, and informative on the (evolving) working habits and what's up on board.
