On a cloudy Valentines Day, 2004, my mom and I made the 20 minute drive down I64 to the Newport News/Williamsburg airport for our 7:15am flight to ATL. There was actually a small line for check-in but it went quick. There was a line of about 15 people at security too. Wow, busy morning in PHF. We sat down at gate 4 and watched them prepare the plane.

Everyone boarded ontime. The flight was 100% full. We taxied out behind a US-Airways Express Dash-8 and took off on runway 25. The taxiway to runway 25 seems like it'll never end. It's long for an airport the size of PHF. We flew through the clouds the whole flight at about 24000 feet. Very smooth. We had some honey wheat snack mix and I had sprite to drink. It was raining in ATL when we began our decent but it wasn't to bumpy. Nice flight.

We had 2 hours in ATL until our next flight. I walked to the E councourse to get a view of the SAA A346. What an amazing plane! We took the tram back to concourse B and sat at B36 to wait for our flight to MSP

We taxied to runway 26R and waited behind a mix of aircraft including ASA's Blue Bonnet CRJ and an Air Canada Jazz CRJ. We took off with the SAA A346 on runway 27L. That was really cool. Then it got bumpy once we got out of the ATL area all the way up to around STL. Once we got out of the clouds and the bumpy air the ground was all white with snow. I didn't see anymore clouds the rest of the day. Nice FA's even though we only got pretzels but at least we got those. We began descending over Iowa and made a smooth landing in MSP and taxied to E15 past a NWA 744 and a bunch of old DC-9's.

After spending a long weekend at my aunts house, it was time to go home. We got dropped off at 12 for our 3pm flight to CVG. I went up to the observation deck on concourse D. It's really cool if you have never been. We walked over to gate E15 for our flight to CVG which was about 45% full.

We taxied out behind an AA F100. Does anyone know when those are going to be gone? We took off to the northwest and made a 180 degree turn to the southeast to CVG. I had all of row 14 to myself so I laid out and tok a nap. The pilot said we would be flying south of Chicago and ove Indiana into CVG. Pretty average flight, no bumps.

This was my first time in CVG and it is a really nice airport. It's nice and wide. I wish we would've had more time but oh well . We walked down to gate B9 for our flight to ATL

    Delta Airlines flight 755

This flight was a mere 15% full. I had all of row 14 to myself again . The 767 is a nice plane. It was a short flight to ATL but we still got served pretzels and a drink. The ATL airspace was really busy that night. There were lights everywhere but we landed ontime on runway 8R and taxied to gate A2 and deplaned quickly because our flight to PHF left at 9:30.

Not much time in ATL. We were worried that our flight might have been delayed due to snow in the Newport News area but it wasn't. This was my first time in concourse D.

Our CRJ was surrounded by about 5 ATR72's in ATL. Another full flight to PHF(way to go PHF-er's!) We were number 1 for takeoff on 9R along with an Airtran 717 on 8L. I love how ATL has two departures at the same time. It was dark outside so there was nothing to see. Flying time was about 1 hour. Pretty smooth flight. It wasn't snowing in PHF but it had earlier. Smooth landing on runway 7 and then the long taxi back to the terminal. Luggage came quick and we were on our way back home.

Delta got me where I wanted to go and back on time and safely. Delta is a great airline.

Nice report on a nice trip : one sector, one different type of aircraft, just pure marvel in itinerary planning.

        Yes I always do that unless I don't have a chocie. I'm flying RIC-PHL-LHR-BCN and back in August and I'll be on a Dash-8, DO-328, A319, A320, B744 and a B772

Good to read I am not the only one to "terrorize" the travel agency sales-persons and ticketors ....

            good report!

What do you think of CVG.

My parents were just there--they said they hated it. They said that the rj terminal was too small and crowded. They hated taking a bus between terminals, too

I'm sorry they didn't like it. I thought it was really nice but I wasn't in the RJ terminal. It looked a little small and there weren't a lot of windows. I thought concourse B was awesome, wide and open. My mom thought it was one of the nicer airports shes been to. It isn't nearly as crowded as ATL either. Its a very nice airport.
