  • Raptor pilot "trapped" in cockpit

This was posted on another forum I visit but thought it was worth posting here. Firefighters had to cut through the Lexan cockpit glass to extract the pilot...

We'll, as you can see from all the shards of glass in it, they're going to have to clean out the cockpit anyway...

I'm sure the government pays a fortune for those too. Would be cheaper probably just to buy a powerade bottle and dump out the powerade.

I've done that before...Didn't feel like splattering the side of the airplane with purple powerade, so I drank it real quick. Was on one of those damn 250nm solo x/cs. If you land, you gotta do the whole thing over again.

Just a question. Will the rockets below the seat ignite first after the canopy have been blowned off upon ejecting ? $ 180.000 for that .. Wauwww !
                    Inactive from May 1 2009.

If you are asking about the rockets that eject the seat I'm sure they were pinned once the pilot knew what he was in for.

The Canopy has some special plating to prevent radar emissions, which would really add to the cost.
