  • NATO Fighters Too Aggressive to Russian Bears

NATO planes regularly undertake "dangerous" practice attacks against Russian bombers patrolling the Arctic Ocean, the head of the Russian air force was quoted as saying Saturday.

"Regularly as our flights are fulfilling combat patrols, we are tracked by planes from the patrol forces of both NATO and other countries," General Alexander Zelin was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency.

"Over the waters of the Arctic Ocean we are regularly attacked by F-15, F-16 and F-22 aircraft. I did not use the word 'attack' lightly, as our partners, so to speak, practice combat manoeuvres, up to the threshold of an attack.

My initial thought; "cry me a river".

So Russian planes fly up to other countries airspaces and expect them not to respond. I thought that was the intent of the exercize.

Very true. I just thought it was an interesting contrast between the comments of Col. Gen. Alexander Zelin being so critical of NATO and his comments from a few days earlier praising them for their professionalism. I would gather he found that saying nice things about NATO wasn't appreciated by the Russian political leadership, and he needed to balance his comments with something a bit more negative later on to make up for it.

                    Earlier comments were:

Col. Gen. Alexander Zelin, commander in chief of the Russian air force, said this was also a good way to train NATO crews.

Both sides do their best to avoid direct confrontation. The NATO pilots keep their distance. In fact, the professionalism of Russian and Western air crews has so far prevented any emergencies.

The media sometimes report incidents involving Russian bombers buzzing U.S. aircraft carriers. According to Gen. Zelin, Russian pilots do not violate any international agreements or safety precautions.

And other German Guy whith his Casenna ). The U-2 Flight had been a big scandal for USSR's international Relationnship with outside world. To me all they do is just a show off after sleeping time. Oil is going up making Russia richer and richer so now is time for them to be strong again after a long decade.

The did all patrol flights like this before and cut off due to money and now time to fly again. EU Pilot seldom to see TU fighter from Russia for long so they just a bit "panic" )))))))))))))))))
