  • Help to identify aircraft

Recently come back from Pakistan and have taken a few shots of military aircraft. I haven't got a clue as to the type of aircraft they are. Can anyone help so I can correctly upload them into Database?

All, any help would be appreciated or can someone point me in the righ direction to ID these aircraft?

    Thanks
    Murt

    Hey Murt,

The first one looks like the F-86. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-86_Sabre

No clue about the 2nd one.

Scramble says the last one is a Shenyang J-6. Reg # 1610. c/n unknown.

Can we have some identifying numbers for these a/c to help us?

            For the first one.

            Reg #: 25031
            Type: F-86 Sabre
            Prev. Unit: Lower Topa

The middle one looks like another of your photos: the F-6. So i'm guessing it's another F-6.

Did you have a good trip?

Yep you and Joe are right for the first one. I will have to look further for the last one, will try Historyofpia.com

Had a great time dodging security/police/army to try and take some pictures in Pakistan. Weather was hovering around 120 deg (olden terms). Himalayas were stunning (see pictures when they get accepted). Once all my pictures have been accepted, look out for my trip report in Flight review forum.

We got the first and last ones, we just need to confirm that the middle one is another F-6.

Sounds like you had a great trip. Can't wait to see the pics. Though I'm leaving for CO, WY, and UT on Tuesday for 2 weeks. Will have to see the pics once I return.

It will prob take me a week to sort the trip report out after pictures get accepted. Average queue time is 4.5 days. So you will prob be back home before I get anything done.

And its good to finally see your a/c pictures now you have your banner showing. Well done.

                  Have a nice one.

If I come back to nothing I'm gonna be mad Murt. I will be thinking about what I'm missing everyday. Don't disappoint me now.

Thanks you sir! I am absolutely loving my new 100-400L. I see quite a few shots from my travels on the site after my trip. I get so many less rejections with my 350D than my old Z740 it isn't even comparable. I am so glad I made the switch to an DSLR. I will never go back.

I'm going to see some of my family in Denver for a few days, then it's off to Rocky Mountain NP for a few, then into Wyoming on our way to Yellowstone NP, then after a couple of days in Yellowstone, it''s down to the Grand Tetons NP for a spell, then into Salt Lake City that Saturday, then we have Sunday and Monday to explore the city, then it's a 9AM flight to JFK, then on home. I can't wait!

To me, the middle one looks more like another F-86. It doesn't have wing fences, a drag chute housing, or two engines.

                        # 1 & 2, my bet go for the ubiquitous and universal F-86 Sabre

                        # 3, to the PRC made proposition, I add the Mig 19 Farmer,
                        the direct Soviet inspirator.
Even though the Soviet Union openely backed India, here are some extra reasons in betting with the original instead of the carbon copy
                        - license built was initiated in China during the early 60s, but
                        - production plans were plagued with delays in setting the assembly line, first caused by the The Great Forward :rolleye: and then by the Cultural Revolution which created an havoc in trained professionnals , nothing else
                        - relations then between USSR and the PRC were becoming awry at best
                        - the guys at SovExport were rarely shy to close interesting deals paid with solid CURRENCIES. As the rubble was not convertible, running after currencies was some kind of a national sport by the top brass. Ready to be used for some other special ops among others, the proceeds of the hunting used to be promply cashed in some special accounts by the Narodny Bank ....

Aha, I have found a similar to the 2nd shot:

                          http://www.pakdef.info/pakmilitary/a...ages/f86-2.jpg

According to PakDef it is indeed a F86(F)

but this one will need some more research:

The second one was only rejected as you typed 'unknown' in the CN field.
