  • Green Lights on Harriers?

    Hello all:

I recently had the pleasure of viewing really nice pictures of GR-9 and GR-7 Harriers in several magazines, and something caught my eye which I hadn't noticed before.

On many GR-9's, the red (or white) anti-collision strobe on top and bottom of the fuselage has apparently been replaced by what looks like a green, wedge/pyramid shaped light unit.

Once this got my attention, I also noticed what looks like a green lens on not just the right wingtip (as is standard) but also on the left! What's up with that?

Are those night vision (covert) or did they change colors for some specific reason? Has anyone seen them flying at night?

Any information greatly appreciated - thanks!
