  • DC-3 exploded at the ramp

I just got this picture from some friends in Colombia, South America....a DC-3 totally destroyed by a grenade or some kind of explosive left aboard...this DC-3 used to be owned and operated by the national Police.

Another Historic aircraft gone to waste...
Is it the 2nd DC-3 lost this month?
One was lost in the Philippines after crashing in an abandoned warehouse due to suspected engine failure....

That didn't happen recently right ? I remember of an exactly similar lost of a DC-3 in Columbia about 2 years ago.

This occurred on February 18, 2009. You can see it was a Basler-Turbo version. The event was non-fatal, but on the same day coincidentally (or not) another Colombian Basler-Turbo DC-3 crashed fatally in Colombia.

Too old schmold...Havent seen that engine mounted on a DC-3 before, would have some kick. That didn't look like a grenade either...Even if these upgraded DCs were pressurised (which i doubt) it was ground level...soooo, that means a decent explosive was used.
            Vandalism of the worst kind.

Some DC-3s were modified to use turboprops
August 29th will be the worst day of the year.
