    Supposedly an RPG. Chopper was hovering or flying very slowly at low altitude. Sitting duck.

      I was merely pointing out that proper AA weapons - whether guided or AAA - would be a more profitable long term choice for AA use!

      CAN aircraft be shot down with RPG's? Of course - stranger things have happened... rumour has it that an IL2 was shot down by a Panzerfaust ... but it wouldn't be something you'd want to rely on , is it?

      An RAN pilot flying a Sea Fury off HMAS SYDNEY in Korea shot down a MIG-15 too... again, one wouldn't want to put money on it happening!

      I think the hard use/dangerous environment/low altitude explanation easily covers the apparently high attrition rate suffered by military helos....

      Must concur on the "EXOCET" theory too... well said....
      Holed up in a cabin in the woods.. with 3 years worth of canned goods.. and a whole bunch of guns.

          They shouldn't be - it's one of the safest choppers in the fleet. Proven by stats.
