A great idiot Hitler was. He and his gang. Invading Great Britain..... killing jews and other humans who were not equal to is idiotic imagination of mankind.... surpressing his own people....
Herman Goering once said "If ever a British bomber should drop a bomb at Berlin, call me Maier!" Later that year Goering had to protect in a shelter while British bombers dropped British bombs on Berlin, some people recognized him with the words:"Thank you, Herr Maier!" All of the Nazi-gang used big words and did nothing than bullshit. And so did Mussolini and the Japanese. They all wanted to spread out and rule the world. I think without Mussolini Germans never would have set one foot to Yugoslavia and Greece. The Italians proved not very helpful, they participated on only one or two raids against Britain (with a handful of Fiat bi-planes...).
No folks, those years were not a high point in mankind.

Battle of Britain lost..
In response to the call that the Germans had no other fight on and they still lost the battle of Britain. In my opinion, the Germans (Luftwaffe)DID win strategically but again, lost due to poor judgement.
The Germans couldn't invade with the Royal Navy in place, the navy couldn't be neutralised by German bombers (Stukas mostly) until the RAF was dealt with. The tactic to bomb the airstrips/airbases was completely sound. Ruin the airfields, destroy the aircraft on the ground and keep the pilots up and flying until they fall exhausted (or die in comabt due to massive fatigue).
We all know (i hope) that England/RAF was a maximum of two weeks away from total collapse and subsequent capitulation. I total God-send was the terrible (and non militaristic) idea of switching to bomb cities. Which even then there was plenty of information informaing anyone that bombing a city makes the inhabitants more determined to fight back, it doesn't break their will. Suicides actually went down during the BoB.
In my opinion, the Germans were NEVER going to invade! Maybe only Hitler and perhaps one or two others were aware of this so as to give the most realistic impression that they were going to invade. Hitler wanted England on her side or out of it all together...The pressure was put on to the end, but England called Hitlers Bluff! What did Hitler then do? He swung 180 and headed to his REAL target....RUSSIA. SEA LION was always a ruse. THere are only about two places that one could stage a decent beach landing and that could be and was heavily defended. The Germans were never going to try to invade with the Navy in place. Some say that they destroyers wouldn't even have to open fire...Instead just rev up to full speed (flank or emergency speed) and shoot past the invasion rafts, the bow wave sufficient to over turn them! (perhaps an exaggeration, but does show how the Germans would have been sitting ducks.)

I think Boeing King, that it was germany who bombed London first. From memory it was a lone bomber who'd gotten a little lost and didn't want to return with his load. -Strange huh!?
Britain retaliated with as full scale attack as they could muster at the time...Lots of old bombers involved, and new crews!
This made germany think (some anyway) that it was England who began the city bombing.

Bombing cities: The Hague Convention Art. 25 clearly states:
The attack or bombardment, by whatever means, of towns, villages, dwellings, or buildings which are undefended is prohibited.
Warszaw was the first capital what was bombed - to turn the Polish morale down, not because of being an important military target. Rotterdam was bombed, although Netherland had surrendered - while the Luftwaffe bombers were underway and the radioed order to turn back was never received by the bomber crews (they had the order to shut down all radio-equipment). Coventry was bombed because of its large industrial area (ammunition production and Rolls-Royce engine-production plants), but they were located close to the city. Bomber crews probably only took orientation by the flames of the burning city and released their bombs there (although 2/3 of the industrial plants were destroyed in that raid).
