War? What war? Come on gentleman, that was hardly a skirmish or a Monte Python skit gone wrong.

They pitched their single (OK, they had 2 ), miss-eyele at you and rolled over faster than a lame and one eyed hound.

Great design and indeed sad that it is over. I remember watching the folks at the Grumman factory on Long Island hovering. That is said to be one of the hardest tasks in aviation isn't it.

But what the heck, we inherit a scrap from the French and it drags out for years and they call it a "Police Action" or "Intervention". They never officially declared it a war.

What does it matter what you call it.People died fighting, have some respect for that if nothing else and drop the lame one eyed comments.

        - And who trained Ho Chi Min and his cohorts in Guerilla warfare? (To fight the japanese) You mob have a habit of training your own opponents...Bloody useless French, how much crap did they get the Allies in last century? The US was the one keen NOT to call it a war, it would have meant a whole lot of "War Rules" would have to be applied. The poor buggers had their hands tied anyway!
I agree the Falklands fell way short of a war...If anytihng THAT was an example of a police action. Not much more than a big training exercise really. And that doesn't disrespect anyone who died, we're talking about the military action, not peoples sacrifice or even the political reasons for it. And the strikes on British shipping shocked me a bit also...Should have sent a shiver down all navies around the world. Can't remember if the ship had a phalanx or goal keeper system...didn't do too well if it did.

If you have ever spent time in a VFW post barbs are traded like that as a matter of course.

Our associates in OZ piled up a body count during our little skirmish. It certainly was not one sided by proportion. The rules of engagement for any air combat were less than a joke. The average outhouse stood a better chance of being targeted than a site of significance.

I read the brief extraction on the 35 and it seems that the Australians were very critical, the Brit seemed to like it; RAF Squadron leader Steve Long.

Other reviews were very mixed Rand conducts audits war games and the Sukhoi 35 is pitted against the F35, Australia's Defense Minister Joel Fitzgibbons find things don't match.

Payload and fuel issues and you wonder if the new pretender will live up the old dog. China would be a game of long bombers and such with Korea as an afterthought.

Falklands was very much as war. Read some of the accounts of battle around Goose Green and Mt Longdon. Police action be buggered. Two and a half thousand killed or wounded in 3 months made this definately a war. The only conventional weaponry not used were MBT's.

The only criticism I have of that conflict is that for years later if a bloody missile was fired anywhere in the world the media immediately labelled it an 'Exocet' even if it was an air to air missile or an ASROC torpedo!

War? It seems that is a matter for politicians that is not grounded in any reality but that of political ambitions or sleight of hand.

Interesting...Would the 22 be a better buy (in theory)? Wonder how IT matches up to the Su-35 (Thought it was a Sukhoi...Is Mikoyan still in the game?)
Can see Australian fighters needing a good fuel load....What do you mean "China would be a game of long bombers and such with Korea as an afterthought." You mean China will need long (range?) bombers?
