  • Russian MiG-31 crash

    http://rt.com/news/fighter-jet-crashes-russia/

A Mig-31 jet crashed on Friday in the Perm Region. Both pilots ejected and survived the incident.

The jet was not armed with missiles and crash-landed in a desolate area, resulting in no casualties or damage on the ground.

The two Air Force officers who manned the aircraft have already been recovered and taken to hospital.

The Mig-31 was based at an airfield near Perm, a city in central Russia near the Urals. No versions of what may have caused the crash have been voiced by the authorities so far.

The Mikoyan Mig-31 is a two-seater interceptor jet, produced since the mid-1970s. Russia has more than 250 such aircraft in service at the moment.
