This is a silly question, but I'm trying to save some packing space in my checked bag and carry-on. Are the pillows free to remove on the aircraft? Never been in a situation where it required me to take some off. \
And just to let you know, I'm no thief so don't suggest it.

It's not like the airlines have free pillows to spare, too. I was on a US Airways redeye (LAX-CLT, 321) a couple years ago and heard some complaints that some seats were lacking pillows. "It's a constant battle", responded one F/A. Might as well be considerate and leave the pillow after your flight is completed, rather than be selfish and take it.
Hell, if you want one take one, it wouldn't stop me from taking something as small as a pillow. Okay I confess, this is comming from someone who can grab anything her grubby lil hands on (blankets, pillows, safety cards, silverware, in flight mags, the works )

That's what I was thinking before I posted this topic...

yeah always a shortage of pillows, but personally I dont know who would want to use those nasty things anyway. GROSS LOL yeah how long have they been around and having people drooling on them. Personally I dont use the pillows or the blankets(unless the blanket is brand new and still in the plastic bag!
Due to our ongoing efforts to reduce costs, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off until further notice.
Like any normal passenger once does, took away my pillow thrice
-a Kenya Airways 707 in '86, an AMX DC.10-30 in '93 and a CA 744 in 97
-in first case I landed at ATH at 1.00am and knew I was up for a long night before next flight to Corfu at 6.00 (another 707, this time OA). The anonymous pillows (I took away a couple) came on handy as head rests, too bad for NBO-bound psgrs who boarded at ATH and got seats 27F and E, they might still looking for the pillows !!!
On the two other occasions, pillow cover is beautifully adorned with airline's name and logo, so nicely set I just could not resist
