  • What's OVER Your Backyard?

Show us what's been over your backyard...
Here's my contribution...The EAA's own B17G out and about today...these shots are obviously not quality enough for posting in the database, but still worth sharing...I have a close up of this plane here: http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=227191

ROFL. I hate it when that happens. I bet you went right down there to kick her out, too.

Hmm... what's over my backyard. Besides a tree?

Well there are, for one, planes landing at ACY about 600-750 feet above my backyard for starters.

Nothing much, you know, CRJ's, ARJ's, MD80s, A340s, tons of 732s, lots of business jets.

My backyard faces about .75 miles by .1 miles of marsh with 20-25 docks running out to the creek down the street. We get lots of C-17s flying over, but other than that, all I can see are 2 small islands, an old dairy almost a mile away, a couple of houses, a river (the Intracoastal Waterway), and some pine trees.

Not much...every one in a while we get a Medevac Chopper on approach to SMC. Usually low enough to rattle some windows, though.

Sounds like some of you guys are pretty lucky in the aircraft department...seeing as how KOSH has no scheduled service, all we see is private biz jets and general prop-stuff. The EAA B17 flies around once in awhile, as does their Ford Tri-Motor. Can't forget the National Guard and the C130's, either. AND, for approximately two weeks a year, we get all sorts of stuff for the fly-in. Last year saw the Orbis MD11, along with other goodies including warbirds and stuff. A number of years ago, we even had the Concorde...
With all that said, I'd really like to be able to watch airliners here in Oshkosh...oh well.

Winds from the north give me a front row seat for finals for YYZ's rwy 33R. They generally drop their gear and contact tower right over my driveway.
Winds from the east or west give me an excellent view of the turn for the downwind for 06L or 24R (for arrivals from the south, over L. Ontario).
Winds from the south (rare) give me takeoffs from 15L.

Can't imagine not living near an international airport with heavies.

This is me looking up and watching planes go by ---->

I have a lake and some GA stuff, nothing interesting. When I go to my aunts house in MSP, departures off of 30L fly right over my aunt's backyard
