  • Provokative Quote

Here's a quote from an evil man, while on trial after WWII.
It may sound frighteningly familiar to some of you.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob want to risk his life in a war? That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Hermann Goering. Hitler's Reich Marshall. The bastard.

Sounds indeed familiar, except that the person in question today would not say it so intelligently!

"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."
