  • Macro photography

    Hi,
In between arrivals at BWI yesterday I decided to play around with my Macro lens.It was pretty cool.Anyone else have any macro photos to share? I remember seeing a photo of an insect hovering over a leaf in a different thread. That was a great shot that "inspired" me to try out the macro feature on my lens. Here's my first macro shot.

Funny this should come up...was headed out the back door last night to take trash to the garage...flipped porch light on and AHHHH!
Bugger was at about waist high with web across back porch, completely blocking my way. All this out of a dude about the size of a dime.
Needless to say, it was a Canon 300D moment.

Come on, aren't there other things to photograph than spiders, like hornets or wasps .

Colin...I'd be happy to take pics of wasps or bees, problem is that they aren't out here yet. The spider, while not planned, made for a good subject.
                Sorry.

No probs, I just don't like seeing spiders that close. From a distance it's, but that close, ouargh. Don't get me wrong, I'm not arachnophobic, but I prefer other animals (e.g. a nice Texas Diamondback Rattlesnake )

LOL. I've got a good friend who has about 40 pythons. I think I need to pay him a visit for some snake-macros.

Sounds good, but don't get too close to them .

My avatar is also a macro shot of a 1/18 scale Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

                            Nice frosty branch.
And to think all this time I thought your avatar shot was of an actual car!

Here is another neat shot, I don't think it qualifies as a macro shot, but it did turn out much better than expected. My orange-wing amazon parrot enjoying her water dish...err...bathtub.
She always seems to make a good photo subject. Note the water drops the 300D managed to catch suspended in midair!
