Maybe he loves his country, and freedom, more than football, ya think! He's a hero in my book.

While his death is tragic, I fail to see how it is more important than the deaths of the hundreds of family men and women overseas. The fact that there are reporters all over his individual death is unfair to those that we've already lost.. Not saying that those who've died haven't recieved any recognition, but any other person who died wouldn't get such coverage. Adam is correct, the possibility of bodily harm or death is present in the mind of a person when they enlist. He or she knowingly puts his or her life on the line for our country, and not everyone comes home...

You know mike, I think you were maybe running a little to hard yesterday afternoon or something cause if you cant tell i am agreeing with you! I said nothing degrading about this soldier who died. I just commented on how in a war your gonna get death. And my comment about being a "Star" was not towards being a "Star" on the battlefield but rather being "Star" in the NFL.

Sad deal. I think I remember FOX or CBS doing a piece on him for their NFL coverage last season or the season before & thought it was an interesting, honorable (giving up a multi-million dollar contract to join the Army) thing to do. Totally forgot about him until I heard the news today....

It is a unique case and deserves to be reported.

Cutting the football professional carreer short by enlisting with the Rangers is heroic by itself. He made a choice, the choice of arms along with the risks attached. My tribute to the professional warrior who accepted this one mission too far and sympathy to his relatives and friends.
                          RIP

I don't understand why people think he is more heroic than any other soldier who has given their lives over in Afghanistan.
