  • Account Ban Appeal

    Dear JetPhotos Administrators:
This morning when I checked the site, I found that my account has been banned. Further communications with my friends indicated that one of them has also been banned.
Based on the admin’s response to my friend in the forum, I am worried that the respected administrator may think that the account with the username "G027" is a second account of mine. I sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding caused to you. I am a good friend of “G027" and we often take pictures of airplanes together, thus the pictures we sent may have similar perspectives. While I do travel with him fairly often and occasionally borrow his equipment (Canon R5, mine is R6) for more pixels, we keep our photos on separate cards and have never uploaded photos taken by the other person.
We’re willing to provide additional evidence that we’re separate individuals if required, and a lot of aviation enthusiasts in Shanghai know us personally and can confirm the aforementioned situation.
I earnestly request the respected JP administrator to pay attention to this matter and allow me to prove myself innocent.Thank you.

Why is it that your friend wants his account deleted then? To me this sounds like removing any evidence and just start a new account. You guys really need to change mentality. Do you know how much time we loose by dealing with double accounts, cheating etc.... from your country? It's unbelievable. Nowhere in the world there seems to be more loaning of camera's, swapping SD cards etc... then from your area. So see yourself as a victim of your spotting community. We are now at a zero tolerance policy.

I’ve met both account owners in person and I can confirm these accounts are not doubles. I know Palpa Wang since 2021, his spotting record goes further back and G027 is fairly new to the hobby, joining some time in 2024. They do travel together a lot. Both members are fairly well-known within the Shanghai spotting community.

To be fair China has the world second largest population and likely one of world’s largest spotting community, thus even a small proportion of rule breakers can be a lot. Such cheaters are despised among us and we strive to convince them to do what’s right. If you’re short on people to handle such issues you should probably recruit local spotters who are better aware of the situation. They’ll be able to handle it more efficiently and I’m sure there are volunteers.

Dear administrators, I apologize for taking up your valuable time, and my friend's reckless remarks in the forum or email. I maintain my innocence but I respect your final decision.

Well... I am pretty sure G027 and Palpa Wang are not double accounts cuz I've seen both of them as two separate real people in reality.

Sure they are. But for sharing pictures/swapping sd cards, loaning cameras, you need to be at least two persons.

Is swapping cameras allowed? I swapped with a friend (Nikon ZFc) recently to take photos of G-TNED with my alternate SD card while he used my camera (Nikon D7200) with my SD card to get a photo of the BA concorde at Heathrow. Just wondering if I can upload my image of TNED as TNED is the only BA a321N I haven't gotten a good jetphotos worthy image of.

                    Thanks in advance

Theoretically, as long as you took the photo, you can upload it as your own. Nothing in the rules bans camera swapping.
But... it is difficult to prove your innocence if you are suspected, so... Probably stick to your camera unless you have a good reason not to?

Sure you can. This is by no means the practice the uploaders from a certain region does. The open up multiple accounst, share photos around and use multiple camera's. Mostly with hot shots.

If you think that the violations in the area are too complicated, maybe you should recruit local volunteers to assist you in your work, they will be more aware of the actual situation and can reduce the pressure of your work, I am sure that there are many enthusiasts who will volunteer to join, of course, I respect your choice, thank you.

It would be a lot easier if people simply played by the rules instead of having the same burst of shots shared among 5 people who weren't there just so all get a hot photo and some meaningless stats, but that's just me.
