  • Oh the joys of Wisdom teeth! :)

Today I got my wisdom teeth removed!

Its been a long day of ralphing blood... going blind for short periods of time... searing pain... notstop drooling and being treated like a baby by my folks !

I'd love to roll over to Wendy's and have a #1 with a frosty... but that aint happenin as long as my face is the size of a blimp and i've got stiches all up in my mouth

Just wanted to share my experience thus far!

    Cheers
    -Adam

Hmm, when my orthadontist was doing her dentist training when sewing teh gum back up she sewed the gun onto the instructors finger. (Dont ask me how she passed).

            I feel for you, dude!!!

I got mine pulled out (all 4 of 'em) two and a half years ago. It ain't pretty. Although the spoiling is some consolation .

My pain was excruciating, although I asked to be knocked out.

The wisdom teeth or third molars are some teeth that grow at age 17 to like 20. They are located in the deepest corner of the mouth, aside the second molars. They can remain asymptomatic for lifetime, but most people find they have no space for them, or that they are coming twisted, so they extract them.

When beginning an orthodontic treatment, most times it's recommended to extract them.

As I said, they can remain asymptomatic for lifetime, but they have been guilty of causing from simple infections, to even tumors. Besides, due to their far position, they're the hardest to clean.

As a side note, genealogists have found a tendency for this teeth to disappear, the number of people which doesn't even seem to have this teeth even when examined by X-Ray is growing fast.

                  Hope that helped.

Hope you get better soon Adam. I still have mine (and so far no desire of having them taken out) but a friend at school had all 4 removed on the same day, and three days after his head still looked like a Goodyear Blimp, not to mention that he had to drink water only for 1 week or so. Was pretty bad.
Anyway, hope you don't have to go through that.

Had 2 lower wisdom teeth removed a few years ago under a general anasthetic. Saw an x-ray before they were removed and were very impacted and growing horizontally along the gums forcing other teeth to become displaced.

I was out for about an hour and woke up with a mouth full of padding which was soaked in blood. The holes left were stitched up although I did pull one side out after a few days when brushing teeth.
Back, shoulders, neck ached for a week and I was signed off work for 2 weeks, face was very swollen and yellowish from bruising. Apparently because of the difficulty in removing my teeth, my jaw was unhinged! which meant I could hardly open my mouth for several days. Survived on soup as I could not open mouth to get a fork or spoon in. Also could not clean teeth much so mouth taste was nasty and could peel paint off walls just by breathing

Hope I never need the other 2 removed

I might have to get some pulled later this year.
