On Friday (18JUN)'s 20/20 on ABC, Madonna will announce to retire her name, instead, she'll be called "Esther".

Madonna, who was born in 1958 in Michigan, was originally known as Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone. Her mother was called Madonna Ciccone.

"I wanted to attach myself to another name," she said according to excerpts from the interview released by ABC on Thursday. "This is in no way a negation of who my mother is. ... I wanted to attach myself to the energy of a different name."
