  • A Few Storm Photos

Just a few photos from the storms that rolled through here this evening...I got out there as soon as the very close lighting died off (those who know me swear the stuff is attracted to me- long story). Tried to get some planes in the foreground at KOSH with not much success, most lightning was wrapped behind the rain- coupled with the fact that the storms were moving at 50-70mph meant they went away real quick.
Here's a couple from that attempt:

At the time those were taken they were producing funnel clouds, 80mph winds, and 2" hail just to my east and south.
Hurried down to the lakefront for some lightning attempts, got just two distant bolts:

You'll note the ducks in the last shot that really weren't paying me any attention...
Now this last shot turned out much, much better than I thought...it was taken looking to the northeast...the skies cleared out quickly behind the storms...so I was able to capture this scene. At the same time I imaged this, the pictured storm cell was producing multiple short-lived tornadoes..saw home video on the news tonight and the time stamp matched my image time exactly! Also note that in the lower right, fish are actually jumping out of the water. I saw it happening as I took these shots, but never imagined I would get it on film.

I think the large version of that is going on my wall.

Nice Pictures George! Was Watching Fox News Chicago this morning and the forcaster said this evening there was a 5 percent chance of rain for Chicagoland...I was outside and I heard a lot of thunder and it poured for about 15-20 minutes. Nothing cool like your pictures though!

    Great Pics!

Yeah we got hammered pretty good in Wisconsin today...I live just north of all the red triangles. And by the time this map is completed I'll be surrounded by them- many confirmed touchdowns that haven't made it on here yet, particularly in the area Stevens Point-Waupaca-Appleton-Kaukauna.

                Amazing pictures!

Reminds me of the days when I lived in the Southeast. Up here in Massachusetts we get little storms.

                            http://home.new.rr.com/wisairspot/st...od-1600dpi.jpg

                            It's about 200k in size...

Have fun. I was looking through the other shots I took and found a few others that may be promising after all.
Will post when I get more time.
