I'll admit to knowing nothing about Canadian politics...how does this affect US relations? Are the election winners "pro-US" or more "anti-US". Just curious...

Mr Bush probably would have liked the Conservatives more than any other party.

The Liberals will stay the course. There will be few changes in the Cda/U.S. relationship.

Well, I guess you can say that because I see this as the rehearsal of US Presidential Election.

Remember the opinion polls were extremely split, with Liberal and Conservative both scored 33% (not very pro US vs extremely pro US)

Conservative's tactics to block same-sex marraige, and bush-style tax cut apparently failed. even worse is that the recently merged conservative dropped 8% from 2000.

Thanks guys for the insights. I work for a Canadian company (CN), so I have maybe a little bit more than a passing interest.

It was the Conservatives position on same sex marriages and abortion that turned our family off them. As an Air Canada employee I'll never vote Liberal again. So I had the NDP and the Green's to choose from.

My heart is NDP but I voted Liberal so those Conservative dorks didn't win. I'm also in Ralph Goodales riding and he's our Finance Minister(the second biggest person in power, he's basicly Martin's right-hand man).

I strategically voted for the Liberals in my riding (Calgary South-Centre) hoping to prevent the Conservatives from gaining this seat, but it wasn't meant to be.

I'm probably wrong but isn't that Harpers riding?

What exactly is meant by the term "riding"?
Amazing the differences in politics across a line on a map.
