this war was NOT needed...herpa, Iraq does not have WMDs (at least we can't prove that they do). Even if they had the warheads, they lack the missles of long enough range to carry them to the States.

The reason terrorists aim their attacks on the US is because the US is too arrogant and like to meddle in other people's business. The world, instead of accumulating weapons and building up its military forces, should disarm. Peaceful nations, like Canada and Switzerland, have no need to fear being attacked by terrorists. The terrorists see no point in attacking them. Thus, they have no need for huge military budgets. If every nation disarmed, there'd be less and less need for violence and more and more peace in this world. I'm sure even you would like that...

          Back to Israel.

YOu know why so many Arabs hate America?

Because they support a government which violates UN resolutions and steals Palestinian land. They're called Jewish settlements. All of which are on Palestinian land. Then when the rightful owners fight for what is theirs, this American-backed govt. sends in the army to kill them. And who bares the brunt of the Israeli reprisal after a suicide bombing? The innocent civilians of Palestine who are killed by soldiers, cannons, bombs, and missiles. An advanced army with sophisticated American equipment vs. poor helpless civilians.

Yes, I denounce the suicide bombings. But rather than exacerbating the issue, why doesn't the Israeli govt. look to avert this problem by finding a peaceful agreement? Oh yes, I forgot. Ariel Sharon is also a megalomaniac.

Look, America fries the fmr. Iraqi govt. for grossly abusing human rights, invading land that isn't theirs yet they wholeheartedly back Israel. A double standard in someone's foreign policy. Look, if the govt. wants to stop terrorist attacks, yes arrests and such can help but what about taking a moment to stop and think about what has caused this resentment. Now the reason of "America is the best" won't cut it. In the 30s, 40s, and 50s Arabs loved America. Until they saw how they backed Israel. I'm not saying or insinuating that America should bow down to please the world, but it seems that there isn't much forsight in American foreign policy which leads the govt. to make decisions which can have grave consequences later on.

Don't anyone even think of calling me an anti-semitist. My best friend is Jewish.

The U.S. didn't create Israel it didn't even own the land. Britian owned because they owned just about everything then. The U.N. authorized a homeland for the Jews and set it up. Israel was attacked on the first day it was offically a country. And the land belongs both to the jews and Arabs. This came about by a pledge to Abraham the father of both Judaism and islam. he had 2 sons. Issac and Ishmael. One was the son of his wife one was the son of his wife's servant. This was because it was custom for the wife to give her husband her servant girl if she was infertile so the husband could have a male heir. So Hagar the servant girl had Ishmael but gloated to Sarah so Sarah made her run awy. hagar as stuck in the desert and both Hagar and ishmael would die. But God told Hagar Ishamel would becaome a great nation so thats where the arab claim for land came from. Later on God made Sarah able to have kids so Issac was born. Sarah was also promised that issac would become a great nation. This is the jews claim to the land. And before all of this god told Abraham he would have descendants that out number the stars. The Jews kept the land until the Romans captured Judea and dispersed the jews. After WW2 the U.N. felling bad for the jews decided that the jews could have there own place. The jews said British palestine was the hunk they wanted so ta-da instant country with world backing. Teh arabs felt offeneded so they attacked and israel defended. israel got greedy and snatched arab land this got the arabs mad so begins the cycle of violence. Saddam hates jews so he backs the palestinian terrorists. the U.S. backs Israel because israel is generally stable, not as radical , and jews have a lot of political clout in the U.S. If the arabs got the land back it would be back to the concentration camps for the jews and no one would like that.

Yes, that would be great, but sadly it will never happen. If the whole world disarmed and had no armies, suppose one evil group was able to get ahold of weapons. They could take over everything, and nobody would be able to stop them. Also, some countries could lie and not disarm, and when everybody else was disarmed, they would attack.

Richard has brought up an important point. Talking about Israel here has nothing to do with ani-semitism. It's not the Jews as a religion that are responsible for the mess in the Near East, it's the Israelis, who happen to be Jews. There are many millions of peaceful Jews spread around the world, who are not responsible for and not connected to what is happening in Israel today.

Even if Osama has done a whole lot wrong, what he and his fellow Al Qaida fighters have done dates eventually back to the unsolved Israeli vs. Palestinians problem. As long as Israel is going to be supported by the USA, as long the USA will remain an enemy of the Arab world. Now being an enemy is one thing, but taking into account the sometimes fanatic muslim religion, it easily becomes clear that the problem can not be solved by catching Osama and Saddam. Others are fanatic and ready to follow their leaders.

So even after the war with Iraq and the extinction of the Iraqi government, the threat of the Arabs vs. the USA remains, and only two solutions will finally solve the problem:

                  1. The USA invade and occupy all other muslim countries, exchange their governments, extinct all muslims, and chistianize those countries
                  2. The USA finally withdraw from supporting Israel and stop interfering in the businesses of Arab/muslim countries.

I leave it up to your immagination what solution we are going to see.

                  Regards,
                  Peter

                    Thanks Peter. I agree.

I understand that Israel has a right to exist. The Jews need a homeland, I resepect that. But over the years Israel has continued to violate UN resolutions outlining Israeli and Palestinian land by expanding their borders killing any Palestinians who try to defend their land. This has sparked extremists to take action against Israeli civilians. As tragic as this is, if Sharon really wants to solve the problem, he must first know what it is that angers such people and seek an agreement with the Palestinian govt. Now I think it's only fair for the Israeli govt. and the Bush Administration to think hard about this issue. The problem won't be ertaticated by force, it will instead become envigorated and further radicalized. That's one thing I admire about the Clinton Administration, he really wanted peace in the Middle East.

There's more to the story than just Palestinian suicide bombers...
