There's a ton of songs I remember hearing on different flights...examples of which are:
-Pink, "There You Go" (NW DC-10 DTW-FCO)
-Bill Withers' "Use Me Up" & U2's "Beautiful Day" (DL 757s ATL-CMH on two occasions)
-Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" (ironically just before we hit one hell of a t-storm ATL-CMH in 1998 )
-Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama" (US 767 CLT-SJU).
good one. they played that over loud speakers when alaska took delivery of their first 739...boeing hangar at boeing field. they cranked it up as the hangar doors opened to reveal two 739s parked nose to nose. good times!
can't forget about van halen's "dreams"
the video is nothing but blue angel flying. sweet!
don henley "taking you home"
once heard this departing DFW on AA. scattered, large clouds that day. seemed like a good song to ascend to.
Usher- Confessions Part 2(DL292 OGG-LAX) I had a ton of homework I had to do so I listened to my new Usher cd while I worked. I heard this song for the first time on the plane and loved it.
OutKast- Red Velvet(DL10 ATL-LGW) Similar to the reason above.
Leavin on a Jet Plane (John Denver version) reminds me of my Dad's overseas trips when I was a kid. The version used for the theme song of TV show Airline is also good.
For some reason, I think of Frank Sinatra when I think of flying music. I remember back in 2000 (I think it was either August or September) one of their channels was spotlighting The Rat Pack, and I listened to that channel all the way through on several flights and is now linked forever with me.
When I flew on My Travel's DC-10 (G-BYDA) they played all the albums of Robbie Williams - On the 20 year old radios in the arm wrests
I was on another DL 757 (haha...do we see a trend here?) & just as we started rolling down Rwy 28L @ CMH, that song came on on the audio IFE. It was kinda cool...I like Robbie's music, so I'm not complaining.
