yeah lol, flightsim is just a weeeeeeeeee bit different than actual flying! I got my ppl a year ago, and it cost me about $NZ13,000 (excluding ratings), since then it has gotten more expensive, i wouldent say there is a uniform cost of ppl's around the world, germany for instance is apparenlty really expensive, so your best bet is to rock on down to your local, and get some info!

dont let money be a barrier, flyings not just for spoilt rich boys, i worked at a supermarket on a tiny wage, and spent 100% on flying not cd player, not car etc like everyone else was. Also you've really gotta be commited to it, if you drop out half way you'll have nothing to show for it, and people do; 40% of my C.P.L intake have dropped out.

After my first few lessons i remember my arms aching from holding the controls, that was before i learnt about trim, and at the time i really thought that, that was just how it was, so if you get stuck into your training really master the trim straight away!

    Congrats KBOS!

I remember my first- 9/22/01. Taxiing was the hardest thing for me too- did S's all the way to the threshold. The 2 lessons after that were more interesting- a lightning storm and an unintentional spin. For only having a few hours, that spin scared the crap out of me!

Best feeling in the world though, isn't it? You should try helicopters sometime.

    good for you. that's awesome!
i have to go way back to remember my first time at the controls...early 80s...my dad's 172 when i was about 8. all i remember is maintaining cruise altitude and making a few left/right turns.
