I know. But I'm not sure if I'll go around Christmas like you. Next summer is more likely for me.

I think I am going to burn a huge hole in my wallet if I went to SXM

I could possibly do something like MAN if I could find a good fare. Narita sounds interesting but I read somewhere that the observation deck is too far away? Or am I confused with some other place?
SXM sounds good but I doubt I'd be able to make that trip without having the wife along. Something about beaches and warm water.

Sounds like some narrowing down is needed. How about agree on a region first?

                Like (just a suggestion):

                USA/Canada East
                USA/Canada West
                Central America/Carribbean
                South America
                Australia
                East Asia
                Central/South Asia
                Middle East
                Africa
                Europe East
                Europe West

I think the west coast, ANC has quite a variety of aircraft, Old and new, and come in many shapes and sizes.

I think it's important we go somewhere where there are other things to do! I would like to make the next one a week long or 1.5 week trip. That way, we will have suffecient time to shoot, visit, and do other things that would just be fun to do! Unfortunalty in LAX, we were all together for like 1-2 days which made it hard to decide on what to do.

I definitely think CDG is a GREAT idea- maybe even shift between US and Europe every year???
Somewhere in the US would be great too, I'd like to go there And for that, Miami definitely sounds great
Not sure that I'd be able to come though seeing that I go to Australia this year Very expensive... but hopefully, I will

After narrowing it down Kev, I'd prefer to go to either SXM, CDG, or SYD.

I think if the meet was at CDG, it would be great 'cos it's got traffic (which ain't all Air France) and the 2005 Airshow is a fantastic bonus

BTW, you forgot to mention that MAN has the best spotting facilities in the UK... Which is why it's shot to death!

not the USA, it costs a fortune to get there from Perth where i am! i need to save for 18 months for a trip to the US.

i am going to sth africa in nov/dec for some spotting, how about somewhere like thailand, new zealand or the greatest of them all Narita, cos your not going to find any place better to spot than Japan!

CDG at airshow time will be a joke and almost impossible to find a hotel room, and the one you find will cost a fortune!

i rekon seriously Narita, the heavy traffic there is unsurpassable! the facilities and spots are unsurpassed, forget the comments by kaddyuk, nrt is easy to shoot from obs decks, sakura park, museum and countless otehr spots, infact its probably the most spotter friendly airport you can visit! plenty of spots and easy to get too!

forget SXM, its nearly $4000 for an economy fare from australia to there! absolutely NOT.

but the best for that time of year would have to be sthn hemisphere as its cooler! nrth summer is pointless!

I'm with Mont...Narita over Christmas (that way I'm back here on vacation anyway). The sad thing is, Mont will have to show me to the best spotting areas...agreed though, the viewing terrace (especially Terminal 2) sucks horribly, especially when its Hazy. But if its in the winter, the air should be very clear and the weather is usually nice. I know it feels like summer for me when I come back here for christmas break...but again that is after spending a few months in North Dakota

that attitude is sh!t, not everyone here can just at the drop of a hat rockup to LA, the few that went have no more of a say than anyone else, its an equal consensus or forget it, i think JP crew should have a higher say than anyone else!

and don't comment on nrt if you haven't been there! 15hrs of heavies a day is by far and away the best airport you will see, haneda is not more than 1 hr away and kansai is also easily accessable as is chittose!

not worth doing CDG anytime near the airshow, will be impossible to get a room cheap, the weather and heat will be crap! sydney is best at that time of year.

SXM, fvck i am not going to travel 30000miles for $4000 to photograph a few planes fly over a beach! not worth it!!
