forget paris at airshow time, you want it to be affordable then paris isn't an option! it's been in the USA so another country now gets a go!

I totally understand that many of our US based members would not be able to afford Australia or Asia, but many of our Asian and Aussie (and Kiwi ) members cannot afford to go to the US, seeing as we just had a meet in the US I reckon it is only fair that the next one should take place somewhere else.

The top five countries where members come fromare USA, UK, Canada, Netherlands and Australia (in that order). These are the places we should be looking at.

I am pretty much committed to going to Sydney in January so it is unlikely that I would go to Australia twice in the same year, but I have a basic knowledge of Sydney (the airport and the city) and I know that it would be a great place for a meet-and you don't need to be 21 to buy a beer .

I totally don't have a problem with the next meet be at SYD or Asia (even though I won't be going). However, having said that, I think the year after that should be in Canada or Europe based on jp.net demographics

Ok guys I dont want things to get all heated when it comes down to the decisions of where and when the next meet will be, its supposed to be a meet where we all can meet up and organise things without conflict.

After a small discussion with James Rowson he came up with a pretty damn good idea, an organisation committee........ a group of individuals who help decide where the overall destination of the meet is, what will be done there, help on organising anything for the meet, and get names and numbers of any people in their designated area who are committed to going to the meet.

In this committee there should be a fair share of people who have turned up to the LAX meet (possibly 2), JP.Net crew (possibly 2) and other members who can represent all other jp.net members who would like to turn up to the meet (possibly 4). These individuals will have to be 100% committed themselves to making it to the meet and will be keys at organising anything that will go on when the meet goes ahead.

In regards to the destination of the meet again everywhere is open to suggestions, all I ask now is....your suggestion needs to be supported with its Pro's and Cons, the spots that will be ideal to visit, the traffic and also what else there is to do at the destination. Maybe some airfares from some of the most popular airports most jp.net members can get to in their home airport I.E, LHR, SYD, MAN, ORD, LAX, JFK, ATL, CDG, MAD, FRA to mention a few... Once the key detinations have been written about in a post they will all go into a brand new post where the best locations of the meet can be polled on. The elimination of alot of the destinations can be done by the organisation committee and the strongest contenders go through to the poll.

So the main things that need organising in order of priority:

          1) Volunteers For Organisation Committee Needed.
          2) Organisation Committee Selected.
          3) Putting Forward Of A Destination You Want Fully Supporting Your Decision As Mentioned Above.
          4) Organisation Committee To Sift Through Selections And Decide On A Top 10 Destinations.
          5) Top 10 Destinations Put Into A Poll For All JP.Net Members To Vote On.
          6) Destination With Most Votes Ends Up As Meet Destination.
          7) FULL List Of People Who Want To Come To The Meet.
Dates Now Need To Be Selected Again Essential To Be In Over 12 Months.
          9) Once Agreement Is Made On The Meet Dates We Can Then Fully Plan On What The Itinery Can Be

So as I finish another brainstorming session I will give notice that I wish to be on the Organisation Committee, obviousley this is totally dependant if you all agree with the above ideas. If anybody needs to contact me just E-Mail me or talk to me on MSN.

I think that SYD would be too far for most people to go to.... Some where in Europe, or North America....

I like the idea of Sydney.

I'll have to save a lot for this trip anyways. Weather that means saving $1000 or $2000 is just a difference in effort. If SYD was chosen, I'd do my best to get there.

forget north america, it's been in that part of the world so it's not time to move on to another area! europe i have photographed 6 times and don't fancy going back to, to be honest as i said before the Nrth Hemisphere summer will be waste of time, heat haze etc!

sydney is a good option or japan.

japan isnt hard to get to for anyone!

I second the YVR motion for a 2006(?) meet, or YYZ.

SYD and Asia are just too far out of this poor college student's budget. I'll be saving for 2006, and maybe spend a week in Vancouver or wherever is decided upon.

Japan is better than Australia imo. I mean honestly, if you want folks to show up to SYD you ain't going to get many Americans. $2000+ without hotels or anything is a bit rich for most of us.

Maybe not HARD, but certainly not cheap. I'd be looking at $1000 for the airfare alone from Columbus, plus a passport, accomodations, and meals.

When you make $7/hour and going to school, that kind of money gets hard to come by.

While I'm not trying to deter anyone's plans because, frankly, I doubt anyone cares if I come or not, I won't be able to travel that far.

This is a site on the WORLD WIDE web, most of us do not have the spending power of Sam Chui (pretty much all of us actually ) so we cannot all expect to be able to attend meets which can take place anywhere on the planet (I would advise against Saudi Arabia though ), accept that sometimes you can make it and sometimes you can't-and bear in mind that people in other parts of the world, maybe the opposite side of the world, should have the chance to get together and socialise.

I am probably biased in favour of Sydney but it is the one airport I can't wait to get back to despite it being 10573 miles away.

Completely understandable. All I'm saying is it just isn't feasible for someone like me to spend thousands of dollars to take pictures of airplanes. If your wallet can handle it, more power to you.

Would it be unreasonable of me to ask for two seperate meetups, or at least guarantee 2006 will be somewhere in North America?

Off topic, but I could have sworn I read that Sam has financial help from his mother for his travels. Don't quote me on that, though.

We could just have two each year, one in the Northern Hemisphere and one in the Southern Hemisphere.

Another possibility would be Frankfurt, Seems pretty busy to me.

We all have to realise that not everyone can make each destination. NO matter where it is held, not everyone can come. There will be people in the Northern Hemisphere that cant go to the Southern Hemisphere and vice versa.
