how about we keep the contributions to those who are really serious about travelling to another country for this. people who are not serious should refrain from entering the discussion.

seems the people who aren't serious are the younger who genuinely may not be able to afford a trip of this magnitude.

    next trips
    USA/DXB August.

To be serious one has to have money? Count me out then.

Everyone at LAX was under 27 years of age. All of us were serious enough to be there...

i am mainly talking about people who are contributing to the discussion who have no plan to go at all.

i can't just drop work and take off when i want, needs alot more planning than you think, money is no issue for me! timing is the problem.

Go where? That has yet to be decided, and I thought that was the entire point of of this thread.

You seem fairly dead-set on SYD, so I guess I will shut my non-serious mouth.

hmmmm...so you need money to be serious...or else you can't post on this thread...i'll keep that in mind...

It is true, most of us don't have the money to go to those places...Some of us have to pay University Tuition,Insurance,etc.....

I say the people who have the time and money to do to SDY.....go ahead...but the rest will have the meeting at a place we can go to.

Port Columbus and PIAA310 stop being so touchy...sheesh

Monty is right. For those of us who likely will not be able to make it to a meet outside the United States, saying stuff like "not Sydney" or "not Japan" isn't right. If you are serious about trying to get to a meet (and have the means to afford it, because the bottom line is, no matter what, you need cash), then give suggestions and comments.

For some of us who are students who do not have too much money, as much as we might wish to go we might not be able to. Just wait for the next time it is held somewhere near your area.

You don't need money to post here, you need to be serious enough about getting to a meet.
"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."

Someone should just make a meet in the US then for those of us who cant pay a thousand dollars just to travel out and spot for a day to post stuff on.

I think i should make one for califorina spotters

How does an airline thats going bankrupt sign new regional carriers, launch a discount airline, purchase new planes, AND repaint their fleet? I dunno, ask United.

Like I said before, I am not against SYD for next year if that's what people decide on. I do think those who may not go should be able to contribute to this thread as long as it is constructive.

I have an idea...I was thinking maybe we should work out jp.net meets in advance for five years or so. That way people can see a place they are interested in/or they can afford, know when it takes place and plan for it.

                    For example:

                    2005-SYD
                    2006-YVR
                    2007-ZRH <------------------------------sample list only!!!!!!!!
                    2008-SXM
                    2009-MIA

Of course if a destination won't work out for some reason, it can be amended. What do y'all think?

While I would like a meet in YVR, the list I made above was only meant to illustrate my idea...I just chose random places to fill the list.

                            You people..I don't understand.

There was one in the US a week ago, and you guys didn't show up. Now why are you making a huge deal out of having the next one in the US again (obviously, I'm talking only about the few extremists). If you don't want to travel out of the US, why didn't you just go to the last one?

My school schedule would not allow me to do LAX, nor would my wallet at the time.

I've already stated that I have no objections to SYD, don't put words in my mouth. Have fun in Sydney, it'll be a blast I'm sure, but you're alienating most of the younger members which are the core of this site.

Does anyone who can't travel to SYD want to try a US regional meetup for next year? Any ideas? Popular candidates so far seem to be PHL, MIA, ATL, and NYC.

b777.. YVR probably wouldn't be a bad pick, several other members have suggested it already.

Can I draw ALL of your attention to the following what I posted earlier, despite thisn it seems nobody had read it. So stop the bickering on a destination as it is still to be decided finally and even then it will require a poll.
                                -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                **************VERY IMPORTANT TO READ***********************
                                -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok guys I dont want things get all heated when it comes down to the decisions of where and when the next meet will be, its supposed to be a meet where we all can meet up and organise things without conflict.

After a small discussion with James Rowson he came up with a pretty damn good idea, an organisation committee........ a group of individuals who help decide where the overall destination of the meet is, what will be done there, help on organising anything for the meet, and get names and numbers of any people in their designated area who are committed to going to the meet.

In this committee there should be a fair share of people who have turned up to the LAX meet (possibly 2), JP.Net crew (possibly 2) and other members who can represent all other jp.net members who would like to turn up to the meet (possibly 4). These individuals will have to be 100% committed themselves to making it to the meet and will be keys at organising anything that will go on when the meet goes ahead.

In regards to the destination of the meet again everywhere is open to suggestions, all I ask now is....your suggestion needs to be supported with its Pro's and Cons, the spots that will be ideal to visit, the traffic and also what else there is to do at the destination. Maybe some airfares from some of the most popular airports most jp.net members can get to in their home airport I.E, LHR, SYD, MAN, ORD, LAX, JFK, ATL, CDG, MAD, FRA to mention a few... Once the key detinations have been written about in a post they will all go into a brand new post where the best locations of the meet can be polled on. The elimination of alot of the destinations can be done by the organisation committee and the strongest contenders go through to the poll.

So the main things that need organising in order of priority:

                                1) Volunteers For Organisation Committee Needed.
                                2) Organisation Committee Selected.
                                3) Putting Forward Of A Destination You Want Fully Supporting Your Decision As Mentioned Above.
                                4) Organisation Committee To Sift Through Selections And Decide On A Top 10 Destinations.
                                5) Top 10 Destinations Put Into A Poll For All JP.Net Members To Vote On.
                                6) Destination With Most Votes Ends Up As Meet Destination.
                                7) FULL List Of People Who Want To Come To The Meet.
Dates Now Need To Be Selected Again Essential To Be In Over 12 Months.
                                9) Once Agreement Is Made On The Meet Dates We Can Then Fully Plan On What The Itinery Can Be

So as I finish another brainstorming session I will give notice that I wish to be on the Organisation Committee, obviousley this is totally dependant if you all agree with the above ideas. If anybody needs to contact me just E-Mail me to talk to me on MSN.

                                -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now after me posting this if your going to bicker without taking anything serious I shall suggest you wait until the destination has finally been chosen until you post your thoughts.
