In experiments conducted at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands, scientists infected monkeys with the coronavirus suspected of causing of SARS and found that the animals developed the same symptoms of the disease that humans do

Thank goodness, not about the monkeys though. I hate this SARS epidemic. It's a real pain.

SARS did originate from animals. From poultry, i think.

Experiments on animals are cruel, but sometimes the only way to help humans.

hope this SARS is going to be beated fast!

            bye

Yes, experiments with animals are cruel, but if they help us humans overcome a disease, I would support them.

Animals help us humans from starving, as we can eat them and their products, so why should they not help us overcome SARS.

              Regards,
              Peter

Leaky sewer pipes in China. Then the government stiffled the whole thing and made it worse.

that was a proposed theory, but it got rubbished. It originated as bird flu in poultry farms, not from leaky sewers.

                      Yeah riiiiiiiiiight, you're telling me.............

Learn to find out about stuff before saying whatever just comes to your mind. Even the "Scientific American" said it was from poultry, but Jeff the great knowledgeable scientist here wants to contradict them.

                      Take a hike, Jeff.......

                        Maybe the chickens ate sewage?

Or maybe we shouldn't worry about how it came to be and worry about how to avoid contracting or passing it.

It orginated when a man came back from Southern China and came down with a misterious illness, from there it spread at the hospital. This was around mid-March when it became public.

In a large housing complex in Kowloon side (a part of HK) it was believed that the disease spread through feces and bad sewage pipes. They can live in human feces for days, and live on plastic surfaces for at least 24 hours. Sewage isn't the source, but it's a big transmitter.....

Neways it's peaked in HK and soon I hope the number of new cases drops to 0.
