  • What would you do? (help please)

Hey all.... I was at work and a buddy of mine said "hey I saw your photo on A.Net the other day.... I was oh cool, that was mad old... I took it with a 1.2 megapixel cam... and he said " no the one of airnet..."....... I never uploaded the picture of airnet, for one cause its just a cropped picture... The only person that has seen that picture is the pilot of the plane, ( in the picture) I got home and sure enough there it is..... Im not mad about it... but I wish I knew he was gonna do it... I woulda given him the better picture I have..... hey atleast i got 1 photo accepted, I guess...... ..... I wish he would have asked..... but its all water under the bridge..... But should I say somthing anyway? the photo is credited to me, but I would like to be in control of my photos... ya know??? -Frogman

ummmmmm NO...... let me put it in another way.....

          1. you take a picture

          2. you e-mail it to the subject

          3. he uploads your picture without your knowledge

4 the only way you find out about it is a friend saw it and commented....

So is it his right to post that picture? I kinda thought that if it was me I would ask the photographer.....

What a S#!tty picture to upload.....NOISE BLURR AND NOISE......
(hey just like the rest of my pictures!! )

Photo taken at Albany - International (County) (ALB / KALB) in New York, USA on July 16, 2001.

            Oh, okay, I get it.

I don't think he has a right, since he didn't originally take the picture and he didn't ask the photographer (you) first. But if he gave to credit, and you are happy with the picture and glad that it is on A.net, then I don't see any problem. You might just want to give him a friendly "please ask me next time."

on the flip side, you giving him the unprotected photo gave him the green light to do whatever he wants with it. you didn't copyright the photo nor does it sound like you said don't publish this photo anywhere.
then again, it sounds like a simple mistake. he probably didn't think too much about what he did.

right on.... thats what I figured..... but Id feel like a jack ass, if I had to ask anyone not to publish a photo..... while we were talking about it at work, I found out a flight instructor was using photos off of here to make a powerpoint presentation... on A/C recognition..... one of my other photos was used without permission on that.... can you imagine how many photos are being used for things that we dont even know/ hear about? but if we really wanted to keep track of our photos, wed never upload them in the first place.... catch 22 huh?
damned if you do, damned if you dont....
