Hello, just right now, i got a message from McAfee's firewall that some was trying to hack into the computer...so i traced the IP address and this is wat came up....
Can someone hack into ur computer even if they are that far away!??
Distance means nothing in relation to the Internet. I used to get hit almost every morning by some idiot in Korea. Same IP every day, usually between 5:30 A.M. and 6:30 A.M. my time. My Norton Firewall would show 300-400 "Intrusion Attempts" before the idiot would stop. Finally I just made sure the computer was either off or disconnected from the DSL box in the morning. It finally stopped.
But because being on DSL means a much greater chance of being hacked, I purchased a router with a built in fire wall. Since then, Norton has never recorded a hit as hardware firewalls stop almost all but the most determined hackers.
Theorethically, someone could hack into your computer even if he's on Mt. Everest. I have all necessary security stuff on my comp, and whenever I'm not online, I'm pulling out the USB cable from the router. Decreases the risk a lot. Btw. if want more security, I suggest you go to http://www.majorgeeks.com/, they have all the stuff you need, including the most up-to-date virus definitions for your Norton protection.
