  • Batten Down the Hatches Florida!!!

First time I can ever remember seeing two hurricane-strength storms about to hit Florida in the space of a few days...
First we have Bonnie, almost to the hurricane threshold, bearing down on the panhandle:

And then we have Charley, a minimal hurricane now but predicted to be a Category 2 storm by the time it hits Key West and then SW Florida near For Meyers.

All you folks in Florida take cover!
(I went through these named storms while I lived in Florida: David 1979, Dennis 1981, Barry 1983, Isadore 1984. None were bad, but they left me with a healthy respect for tropical systems )

. Quite a bad time to visit Florida right now. One hurrricane is abd enough, but within a short span of time is worse. There'll probably be some severe flooding coming (Hey, at least it reduces the risk of bush fires ).

Lucky Floridians. I went through Fran, which was a Category 3 storm when it made landfall in '96. That really messed up the NC area. Hopefully everyone in Florida will hunker down and stay safe while these things rumble through...

As of right now they are jus 4 pointing and putting gust locks in.
And they are moving all the pipers into the hangar since they have getto gust locks (seatbelt).

If the damn thing wasn't hittin Sarasota (Danny's home) I would wanna see at least a three or somethin...but not to worried bout this one looks kinda weak.

Bonnie will do more damage. Less wind but that area has gotten 6-8" in the past few days jus from a stalled front.
Try to catch me flyin dirty...

The entire east coast is going to get wet. But if it's only Aug. and we have 2 named storms think about later in the season.

Looks promising . I would bet that flight delays along the Eastern seaboard could rise to new heights if weather continues like this. Hmm, maybe "The day after tomorrow" isn't very far from reality after all .
