Eh, summer olympics are okay, but the winter games are the best.

on a somewhat related note, its good to see that the Iraqi soccer team bet Portugal. That country needs something they can rally behind...other than blowing things up.

Oh yeah, it's time for the Pharmaceutical World Championships again .
It will certainly be great Olympics, given that the Greek even managaed to finish all construction in time , and they are still high from the win of the European Soccer Championships. Can't wait for the opening ceremony .

Actually I thought the opening ceremony was really, really, REALLY boreing .... maybe they should have given everyone in the audience a flare so they could set fire to the local casino? (Greek/Australian reference).

As for the games themselves ... they seem pretty good ...

                    Aussie Silver
                    Aussie Bronze
                    Aussie Bronze

                    :P

And i'm watching Phelps .. he does seem to have the form to get the medals he's after ...

I do, however, think we should just put Jana Pittman out of her mysery .... maybe Michael Diamond can arrange that for us?

I did think the opening ceremony was really long, but it was pretty fascinating to see them bring all those ancient friezes, frescoes, mosaics and statues to life. I also liked the emphasis on Greek history and culture - it made me wonder how the IOC will organise a comparable ceremony at Beijing in 2008.

I was surprised to see so many cheers for the US team rather then boos! But then again, could the paper be wrong since in Europe wistling is the same thin a booo's?

At the Olympics, politics are set aside.

Exactly. That's why the Iraqis and Afghans got such an enormous applause. And why North and South Koreans entered together (though the angry midget of course didn't like this, but who cares?).

I think there will be some "Kung Fu" shows (Chinese traditional martial art) which is my favourite & i guess those ladies will wear the China last Dynasty "Qing Dynasty" female uniform. I think the Malaysian born "Michelle Yeoh" will be there too.

The best opening/closing ceremonies (Olympic games) i've seen so far is the 2000 Sydney Olympic games.
