I think the best thing about the olympics is when the gold goes to a rank outsider. First medals ever to France, South Africa etc in the pool .. I think it's great.

Iraq's soccer team is also cool ... although i'm wondering who's flying them home considering the arse kicking they just handed out to us ;D

Mind you .. can't we get that Jana Pittman to stop whinging? Geez you can get sick of that very quickly!!!!

they faced no terrorism threats at sydney and still stayed at the 5 star Pan Pacific Hotel with full 24 hr butler service in top level suites, if it's ok for Prince Albert when competing in the winter games to stay at the village then these morons can too!

as i said, it's not the 1st games they have done this, the games are about solidarity, and you get this mob carrying on like they are better than others!

and if it's ok for 10000 other athletes to stay at the village in these times then so should this team of nobodies, interesting to see that Jews, Arabs and the like are all staying together!

Hey, I'm not here to justify there actions. They aren't even a dream team. Mostly just a bunch of overpaid NBA stars. However to have an argument you need a counter point.

I was surprised to see so many cheers for the US team rather then boos! But then again, could the paper be wrong since in Europe wistling is the same thin a booo's?

you go to the games as a competitor your equal along with everyone else, staying on the Queen Mary displays immense arrogance and disrespect, everyone can stay at the village then why can't they?

I also liked the emphasis on Greek history and culture - it made me wonder how the IOC will organise a comparable ceremony at Beijing in 2008.

I think there will be some "Kung Fu" shows (Chinese traditional martial art) which is my favourite & i guess those ladies will wear the China last Dynasty "Qing Dynasty" female uniform. I think the Malaysian born "Michelle Yeoh" will be there too.

The best opening/closing ceremonies (Olympic games) i've seen so far is the 2000 Sydney Olympic games.

Exactly. That's why the Iraqis and Afghans got such an enormous applause. And why North and South Koreans entered together (though the angry midget of course didn't like this, but who cares?).
