  • Tropical Storm/Hurricane Ivan Discussion Thread

I just thought I'd get things started for this storm. It's forecast to probably become a Tropical Storm by Friday.

It's forecast on a more southern track than Frances. Anyone care to estimate where he'll go?

          It's official, Ivan is born.

Galveston/Houston, TX hasn't had a Cat. 3 or above storm since Hurricane Alicia in August, 1983. They're long overdue. Not that i want it to happen, my parents are there and I'm going there 9/11.

Over open ocean it is most likely.

And is it just me or is Frances F*cken HUGE!!

If Ivan enters the Caribbean, then it could go a lot of places. It could hit the Yucatan, Cuba, or make it's way into the Gulf. The NHC has it pretty close to Puerto Rico by Wednesday.

A lot of the storms have been hitting the US this year,
(Alex, Bonnie, Charlie, Frances (eventually), Gaston, Hermine)
and the season isn't over for awhile.

Judging from the satellite pic of Frances, I gotta ask: Where is the eye of the hurricane? I can't see it.

the pressure has gone up to about 960 mb, making the hurricane less organized. that is why the eye is less defined.

Frances is not the same hurricane she used to be. She was weakened from 145 MPH to 105 MPH, a Category 2 storm.
