I think it is really something that is "burned" into a person's memory...regardless of nationality, religious belief, or political affiliation. Goes against anything considered civilized.

The second those planes hit the WTC on the videos it sends a shock through your spine.

There is no god-damned reason for this.

I came across the pics from when I ate at Windows on The World (the restaurant on the 102nd floor). Scary to think what it must have looked/felt like.
                  floor shaking....
                  smoke....
                  the noise...

Something else worthy of taking a look at...

These photos were taken inside the WTC stairwell. I believe some people pictured may have been lost on that day...

The firefighters run to the top while everyone else runs down. 343 NYFD firefighters were killed in the attacks...

The thing that always gets me is watching the films of the firemen headed into the towers, they had to have known they would stand a slim chance of getting out in one piece. Yet they went without hesitation. Heroes in my book...

Needless to say, that was a miserable day...

I sometimes put what happened on 9/11 in the back of my mind, but things like the last pic Herpa posted of the fireman, who probably took a one-way trip into the tower bring it all back to mind in a really frustrating, sobering way. Expanding on what pullin4u said, all the law enforcement involved that day, whether they came out or not, deserve to forever be honored as heroes.

I hate the "fun" the media has with 9/11 too...the tributes are fitting, but is anybody else frustrated all over again when we see replays of 767-200s slamming into towers & dust getting thrown all over NY streets? I can also do without the "insider" specials with interviews with people who lost colleagues/family members on 9/11. With all due respect, it's miserably depressing.
