    Well, we have a new storm out there in the NEstrn Caribbean. Max winds right now are 40mph. It is forecast to strengthen.

    AT 11 AM AST...1500Z...THE GOVERNMENT OF ANTIGUA HAS ISSUED A
    TROPICAL STORM WARNING FOR THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS...ST.
    KITTS...AND NEVIS.

    A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR PUERTO RICO...THE U.S.
    AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS...SABA...ST. EUSTATIUS...ST.
    MARTEEN...ST. KITTS...AND NEVIS.

    AT 11 AM AST...THE GOVERNMENT OF ANTIGUA HAS ISSUED A TROPICAL STORM
    WATCH FOR ANGUILLA.

    TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS COULD ALSO AFFECT THE REMAINDER OF THE
    NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS.

    AT 11 AM AST...1500Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM JEANNE WAS
    LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 16.6 NORTH...LONGITUDE 63.1 WEST OR ABOUT
    135 MILES... 220 KM...SOUTHEAST OF ST. CROIX.

    JEANNE IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 12 MPH...19 KM/HR...
    AND A GENERAL MOTION TO THE WEST-NORTHWEST OR NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED
    FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

    MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPH... 65 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
    GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. AN
    AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT IS SCHEDULED TO
    INVESTIGATE TROPICAL STORM JEANNE THIS AFTERNOON.

    TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 35 MILES
    ... 55 KM FROM THE CENTER.

    THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1006 MB...29.71 INCHES.

    RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 7 TO 9 INCHES...WITH ISOLATED HIGHER

    FORECASTER STEWART
    A trough to the west of Jeanne should shear the system later on, but it remains to be seen how much. If Jeanne can escape that, it might keep its intensity, whatever it is, by the time it reaches the western Caribbean.

    Then again, we have another named storm.

      That looks like it could his anywhere between JAX and MYR. I hope it curves out to sea, though!

          Tropical Storm Jeanne. Not again :/

          This hurricane season is f'n ridiculous. This has a tendency to be the worst hurricane season in history.

              It's not that far above average in terms of # of hurricanes...it's just all of them made landfall...in the same spot!

                Yep, Charleston's exactly right. You usually have these many named storms in a normal season, but not a lot make landfall.

                This time, nature has decided on a different course...

                  6-8 becoming hurricanes (So far 5)
                  2-4 becoming major (cat 3) hurricanes (So far 3)

                      Is it also average that there's a new one every week?!? I mean, I know that there are many hurricanes that have never reached any land, but this year the still seem to be forming faster than in previous years. I still hope this is an exceptionary year and the hurricanes go back to the tracks of past years .
