    Trip to Egypt (Pictures)

    Well, I got the CD with the pics from my trip to Egypt in the mail today, so I decided to post a few. Please let me know what you think!

    In memoriam...(sorry about the shadow).



    Our scuba dive boat didn't quite make it to Saudi Arabia due to a slight problem (we were the rescuers, not the ones needing rescued)


    We decided to dive here instead...

          nice, did you stay at the Mena hotel? thats near the pyramids if my memory serves me correctly. i was there in 2000 and have fond memories! did you get out to Saqara and Dashuar and Memphis?

                    How long has the ship been there??

                    What happened to it, that caused them to just leave it there?
                    The ship ran into the reef and was destroyed beyond repair. I believe this happened around 20 years ago. I'm not sure exactly why they decided to leave it there, other than the fact that it would probably be a pain to move.

                    Yes, the hotel was the Mena hotel. It waas absolutely beautiful; I would recommend it to anyone who visits Egypt.

                    I didn't get to visit Saqara, Dashuar, or Memphis. I spent a few nights in Cairo, then a few weeks in the Sinai desert (approx. 6 miles from the Gaza strip). I also spent a few days near Sharm el Sheikh, and then headed back north again.

                    One thing I have to say- One of Egypt's best qualities is its people. I admit, I was a bit nervous before I got there, but everyone there was so friendly and helpful. There is nothing really to be afraid of (except riding in a cab in Cairo! That puts NYC taxi drivers to shame! ).

                    Believe it or not, there are some Egyptians who talk like that!
