NHL 2005 question

I recently bought NHL 2005 for my PC. It worked the first time I tried to play it, but since then I've been having problems. I turn on the game, it goes to the main screen, then I click on season, then I click on saved season and it brings me to my season that is in progress. I am able to edit my lines and do all of that stuff fine. The problem comes when I actually hit "play game" to start a game. The computer makes sounds like it's thinking, and then NHL 2005 automatically shuts off and it brings me back to windows. Does anyone know what to do?

maybe reinstall it? If that doesn't work then maybe use the CD as a ninja star or a frisbee

EA rushed the game out for all systems, and as a result, the game is full of bugs. I'm just glad I spent $19.99 for ESPN NHL 2K5 instead of forking out the $49.99 for EA NHL 2005; too bad Sega won't release it for the PC.
