I was frusted in math quiz cuz I still guessing.

    -4-(-2-2) (-2)

  • #2
First do the stuff in the brackets

    -4-(-2-2)(-2)
    = -4-(-4)(-2)

    Then do the multiplication

    -4-(-4)(-2)
    = -4-( 8 )

    Then subtract

    -4-8
    =
    -12

You may be doing advanced math, but it wouldn't hurt you to do some remedial spelling
I don't mean to be an ass, but there are more than 10 mistakes in your short post. English may not be your first language, but your profile says you are in the US now, A quick spell check wouldn't hurt now and then.

              Wouldn't the -2-2 = 0??

no, b/c its -2-2, so you are subtracting 2 from -2, wich is -4, think of it as -2+(-2)...

                btw:

                  No. -2 - -2 would, though.

EDIT: Ah, beat me to it.

actualy, it is my first language, and i know my spelling is horrific, but it is not the result of lazyness. you should have seen it a year ago, or two. i have both dislexia, dysgraphia, and other non verbal learning dissorders... please, bare with me :P

Back in India when I was in school there, we learned something which is very easy to remember for solving stuff like this.

                          BODMAS

                          Brackets
                          OF
                          Division
                          Multiplication
                          Addition
                          Subtraction

Whatever you have, just follow that order. You can never go wrong

It says 9th grade, here is an "11th grade" math question from my textbook: (I dont think its too hard)

                              Solve:
                              0<A<360

                              4sin(squared)A-2sin(squared)A-3=0
                              - The baby will be back -
