we only get two a year.

My school isn't poor at all (the girl who was crowned homecoming queen's family basically owns Kiawah and half of downtown Charleston--just one example), but we haven't had any dances.

...and a preppy one at that.

There aren't too many options in Charleston.

We've only got one private school here...a Catholic High School. The rest are public & as I mentioned, our school isn't in the best financial health. The rumor floating around is that while we're building new buildings, we may not have enough money to keep them open. Sad, but (maybe) true.

I'm sorry to hear that about your school.
With the exception of the snobishness (which is getting better because of new scholarships offered...making it a little more diverse), I really like my school. Most of my classes are in the new science and technology building, which is an amazing facility. There are always new things being constructed (right now--a new cafeteria). Another thing I like is that the school embraces technology. Socially, though, it pretty much sucks...not just for me, but for the half of the grade that doesn't have families who used to own large rice plantations and fought in the civil war.

Well, we're getting our desired third dance sometime around Valentine's Day. Gotta love cheerleaders (who are putting it on).

For what it's worth, our school is decent. A lot of the teachers are good & you can get a good education there, it's just a struggling district.

the war didn't effect their finances though.
