Anyone have Vet's in the family?

My grandfather was a navigator on a B-17 in WWII. His group bombed Germany several times (8th Air Force).

My uncle is in Kuwait and heading into Iraq early next year.

Thanks to all the great soldiers who hace and will continue to protect our freedom. Your actions will not be forgotten!

To answer PT737SWAs question, the military does run in my family. My great-grandfather gave his life in Belgium during WWII, my grandfather served, and my father continues to serve. My cousin also joined the USMC this summer and will graduate from basic in December.

In honor of Veteran's Day, ABC will show Saving Private Ryan undedited tonight at 8:00 pm EST. Some local stations will not air it because they are afraid of the FCC, but it should be on TV throughout most of the country.
Fly Raleigh-Durham International, with direct flights on Air Canada, AirTran, American Airlines, American Eagle, America West, Continental Airlines, Continental Express, Delta Airlines, Delta Connection, jetBlue, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Express and US Airways to:

ATL, AUS, BWI, BOS, CHS, CLT, MDW, ORD, CVG, CLE, DFW, DTW, FLL, BDL, HOU, IND, LAS, LAX, LGW, MEM, MIA, MSP, BNA, EWR, MSY, JFK, LGA, ORF, MCO, PHL, PHX, PIT, STL, SLC, TPA, YYZ, DCA and IAD.

We don't have too many military roots in my family, as we immigrated from Russia, Poland, Lithuania, etc.

My great grandfather was an airplane mechanic for the US stationed somewhere in Europe...but I do not know where or when.
My grandfather attended The Citadel (a military college in CHS) and was in the army, but was never in a war.
My uncle was shot down in a helicopter in Viet Nam.
I don't have any relatives serving now, though

Thanks to all those who fought and gave their lives for this great country!!!

In Canada we call it Remembrance Day and we still wear Poppys.
I would like to remember my grandfather who flew in World War 2.
          Thanks,
          Michael

My great grandfather never saw action in the Army. My grandfather was in M*A*S*H unit during Korea. He never spoke much about his experiences. He photographed his service in Korea. They tell the story. My uncle was in the Air Force during Vietnam.

my granddad was an aviation mechanic or sumthin like that during WWII, but when he finally got to go to the Pacific, the war had been over, so he never really saw active duty. he has pics he shows me whenever I go see him. he was in charge of 2 Corsairs, one of which crashed on a landing.
we went to a thing today at the elementary where the HS band played some stuff. it was pretty awesome.

Great-Great Grand Father killed in 1917 in a trench battle
Grand-Father mother side fought the Rif war (colonial war in Morocco 1923/27) as a rear gunner on Breguet 14 biplane tactital light bomber. Volunteered in 06/40 with De Gaulle's Free French, first in Leclerc's Corp, then as a flying enginer on a motley collection of aircraft featuring a Dewoitine 338 (tri-engined), Bloch 120 (tri-engined), Farman 220 (four engines on a paired push-pull each side), captured from Vichy French, a CANT trimotor captured in today's Lybia at Kufra, along with other assets when the Italian battalion surrendered. Small outfit later upgraded with Glenn Martins 167s, Bristol Blenheims IVs and Westland Lysanders. Nearly lost his life in 1943 when one of the latters crashed during a patrol. Was litterally patched up in South Africa and ordered to be demob afterwards.
Father cheated on his age to join the rebellion in 1940 (born 1925).

Interesting one. If well conducted by well organized humint, Intelligence is more than ever proving more important than war. At some point, humint (human intelligence) proves to be more reliable and effective than elint.
