  • What's up with AOL?

I found this article that AOL is telling people who use their broadband service in 9 states that they must switch carriers. What does this mean? Is AOL going out of business?

This is good news for Earthlink as well, as I bet they'll be getting a number of new broadband customers. Plus an @earthlink.net e-mail address doesn't say "Loser" like an @aol.com one does....

Why do you consider an @aol.com address a loser address?

An @aol.com email address=internet newbie, and internet newbie=loser.

I once had an AOL account many moons ago. I was sucked in via one of those discs, 45 days for free. I kept it for maybe a few months after the trial. I hated the fact that half the time I'd never get connected (The only time I could seem to get connected was like 3:00 am), and the other half of the time, I'd get booted off maybe 40% of the time. I switched over to AT&T Worldnet for a few months until I quit renting the computer I was renting.

I had AOL about 2 or 3 years ago. It wasn't too bad. We never had any problems with it. (Connecting or stayed connected or anything like that)

We switched to SBC Yahoo because we wanted DSL.

I thank God that ever since we came to this country, my family and I haven't been forced to use AOL at all, or dialup for that matter.

It was DSL when we were at my aunt's, then cable a few months after we moved to our own house.
